I was all for trading him. I understand this trade was made to dump salary but couldnt we have gotten a stick of gum out of it? It is a shame that he was traded to a NON PLAYOFF TEAM for a fourth rounder...

as if the Flyers weren't spending enough on defense...here comes another 1.7 mil on defense. Though with Holmgren overspending to resign Leighton at least we have $3.475 Million in back up goaltenders!!!
Let's see....Tampa gets rid of Mezaros who was underperforming his contact, picked up Dan Ellis to put some faith in goaltending, picked up a potential 30g/season winger to play with Stamkos, Lecavalier, St. Louis.
Flyers have overspent on a back up goalie, overspent on an over the hill tough guy, took in an overpriced Lightning defenseman, lost out on most young goalies, signed an iffy troublesome Russian winger, signed an over the hill defenseman...what did I miss?...oh wait made either Coburn, Mezaros or Carle the most expensive 5th defenseman in the league!!!

1.7 mil is fine for walker. he was a minus 11 last year on a bad team. he has been on a lot of bad teams and has ok stats. besides, now we have a lot of depth which we saw we needed last year.

I hate this trade, we lose one of our best 2 way forwards and a proven 20-30 + goal scorers for yet ANOTHER D-man and a draft pick. I understand the salary dump and that he has been prone to injuries but damn man thats all we could get and from tampa?

I'm happy to say that even though I'm EXTREMELY pissed that Gags is no longer a Flyer is made up for by the fact that as of this Saturday I will officially be living in Florida only a few hours away from Tampa. I can go to Tampa games and watch Gags all I want now. I call this coincidence, lol! Hooray for me!
