If they do it in New York, why wouldn't they do a double-header to mix it up and be inclusive of all the fanbases in that area? I mean, they're already running out of ways to keep it novel. That would definitely be a new twist, and New York is about the only place they can do that.

Why not have one in Denver and have two western conference teams? It was cool the Bruins had it at Fenway Park, But I think it's bullshit that they always have the same 5 or 6 teams from the east (or so it seems). They should rotate it amongst all the cold weather cities and have the visiting team be from warmer climate cities also. Every fan base should have the opportunity to go see their team in a winter classic, even if it's an away game.

I'd rather it be a new team in the game, but the NHL isn't concerned with us. They know all of us will be watching no matter who is in it. They are trying to get the casual fan because after all, this game is just a showcase for the NHL.

Basically, yes. It is fun, but it is simply to draw in. There is really no "Heritage" or "Classic" in them besides being outside.

Apparently its going to be on Jan. 2nd, as are all the college bowl games (but the Eagles still get to put a butthurtin on the Skins on the 1st )

The Islanders aren't anywhere near good enough to be in a Winter Classic yet.

Right now my biggest concern is August 1st. Over on the Isles fan site so many people are concerned about the tax implications. They don't believe what's being said. I don't blame them, but do you want a hockey team or not?
