Heavy but very interesting. Generally, it seems like the best clutch hitters should be guys with huge RBI totals. I'll have to check Howard's stats.

But then, what about players who get a lot more opportunities with guys on base versus those who don't get as many opportunities? Another reason why RBI's, along with BA, Wins, and Fielding Percentage are statistics on their way out the door

FWIW though, I do definitely consider Howard a "clutch" hitter. Career .939 OPS with men in scoring position.

An interesting thing about Howard. When he first came into the league he was being compared with some of the all time greats in the game. But now we're near the end, his career numbers look a lot like Dave Kingman's.
