Phillies should have just waited for Trout. He is theirs if they Pony up the money....dont know if they will have funds now.

they should have plenty of money when Trout hits free agency. Nicasio, Neshek and Hunter are off their payroll after this season. they've got Hernandez, Robertson and Arrieta coming off after 2020. Angels should have plenty of money then too though, especially with Pujols coming off the books.

Angels will have plenty of money, but they have proven that even with an blank check they don’t know how to run an organization.

Well, 330 is more than 300, and he will get every penny. I guess he didn't want to re-test the market at age 36 but it still seems kinda dumb

Maybe he plans on retiring at the end of the deal (age 39) so just wanted every dollar he could get for that long

That it is. But annually no. Though taxes are less in Philly then CA no?

Can’t wait until they sign Trout for 20 years, $500 million.

Don't forget the $30 million a year they will have to give Nola and the $20 million a year they will have to give Hoskins.

10 years/$375 million sounds about right. Red Sox will have to give Mookie that much too if they want to keep him.

They will. They have deep pockets and not much else committed to future years. That's a likely a big reason they made this deal work out to only 25.4 a year.

He has indicated that he is tired of losing. Their best bet to keep him is having some success over the next couple years.

I thought they had a good offseason last year and were in a decent position to compete last year, but they were decimated by injuries. I think they were tied for the 3rd most DL days last year. Cozart, Tropeano, Richards and Shoemaker all missed a good chunk of 2018, just to name a few.
