Day to Day
This contract isn't as good as Machado's. Only $25.3M a year. Did he a tax deal from PA for signing with the Phils??
Bryce Harper to philly makes sense. His bday on 10/16. P = the 16th letter of the alphabet
Was reading an article on SI about how all of the trends are moving towards mitigating risk and paying guys under 33. Its good to see a team just say 'f$#* that' and just go out and try to win some WS titles and forget about the downsides.
But ultimately I'm glad the Cardinals didnt go this route. That contract is probably going to be an albatross.

He had an atrocious June, and aside from hitting 10 bombs in May, overall was bad from May through July. Could arguably put the tail-off after May 4, because in his first four games in May, he hit 4 homers and a double. So he had a three-month slump, and still managed to lead the league in walks, and be top 10 in the NL in runs and OBP.
So, even when he wasn't on top of his game, he was still able to produce somehow.
I'm not impressed.
