Oh then I’m on board. I think biggest thing for me (and it seems you as well) is that you don’t want to give up any pieces of what could be the future to fill a one year gap. Maybe it’s time we start to talk about spending Middleton’s money on a 2024 FA 1B.
I'm all for spending Middleton's money but I wouldn't spend a bunch on a FA 1B. First base is literally the easiest position to fill, especially if you have the entire off season and spring to figure it out. Hoskins injury was just bad timing because the season is a week away. But they have plenty of guys that may end up at first. If Harper comes back strong from his injury and they gave him next spring to practice at first base I have no doubt he could play the position better than hoskins. I forget how Harper got injured but I have to think that 1b/dh is safer than right field.
