Good game against the Sens last night. Hopefully the Flyers will have winning out of their system for tonight. Doubt it, should be a great game.

The Flyers are 8-2-1 all-time at Consol Energy Center including playoffs. One of the regulation losses came in a meaningless tilt at the end of the '11-'12 season when the Flyers rested G.

Series notes
All-time: Flyers lead series 142-85-8 plus 30 ties
Last season: Pens won series 3-1
Last meeting: 10/17/13 @ Philadelphia, Pens won 4-1

Doob's take
Pens have the better overall record, Flyers are the hotter team, but none of that really matters in this rivalry. I expect a closely contested game regardless of the situation. Nothing left to say about this rivalry which hasn't been said already. Doob picks the Pens to win 3-2.

With all due respect, that's one BIG change. Mason has been the best player on this team to date without question. He has yet to give up more than 3 goals as a Flyer and that gives us a chance to win every single game he starts. Lecavalier is a distant second with 7 goals in only 13 games. They're the only two Flyers on my fantasy squad, so what does that make me? LOL

Seriously though, after hearing G say the following: "When you have Steve Mason behind you, it’s easy to play with confidence." while Mason stated he would feel fine if he was playing tonight, I'm shocked that he's not starting.

As erratic as Emery has been, Mason may still very well play in this game...

This is a huge opportunity for Ray Emery. I just hope he takes it and runs with it. All signs pointed to him not getting the start tonight despite it being a back to back scenario. Quite frankly, Mason had an easy time last night with that far overdue shutout. He wasn't hardly tested and would've been good to go again tonight.

just have to look at in in a long run type of way i guess. after tonight it is feasible that emery does not play again until the next back to back game which is November 30th. schedule is favorable with days off up until then. so as much as I would have liked to see Mason, its a long season and it makes sense to rest your number 1 on back to back if you can, even if he had a light load last night.

emery has been fairly solid this year too.. aside from the washington game and maybe one other, he's had pretty solid outtings as well.. i'm ok with starting emery tonight.. would've prefered to see mason, but i'm only about 51% on the 'start mason' side for this game

I agree awaz. I think Emery will come around. I gained a great deal of admiration for the asskickin' he gave the Caps goalie in that blowout win a couple of games ago. His play is not necessarily on par with Mason but he's a close second and we have not had an awesome goalie in a long time let alone potentially two of them.
