with the NHL season very much in doubt, i figured we could have a phantoms thread.. if this lockout continues to look poor, i will be diverting my rooting interests to the phantoms

    schenn.rowe.akeson
    mcginn.couturier.ford

    gus.bourdon
    manning.syvret
    lauridsen.****

    hovinen/munroe

is looking the lineup so far, with a couple spots still up for grabs

^location to buy streams, $150 for every phantoms game, not a bad deal, i'm strongly considering it

first preseason game starts in 10 minutes.. at the skate zone, no media coverage (aside from writers).. the downside of the AHL.

5-2 albany after 2.. based on tweets it sounds like the phantoms are dominating but hoivinen is awful (how familiar.)

manning and syvret with the phantoms goals

    5-3 final

    Syvret
    Ford (tipped manning's shot apparently)
    McGinn (from couturier)

hovinen stopped 18 of 23 shots, phantoms had 47 shots

i like gus more than manning, but i like bourdon best of the 3.. i know i normally sound pretty down on the flyers prospects, but i actually do think bourdon, gus, and manning can be solid NHL'ers.. more likely bottom pair type guys, but all 3 have some offensive upside as well, and the flyers could really use that

as per our scouts?Just who in the fuck has been responsible for the Flyer's choice of goalies in the last 20 plus years baffles me.Other than trades or free agents, their picks have been mostly garbage.

With their first, and IMO even 2nd draft pick this year, they should have grabbed a goalie. The prospects in the system now,are not all that promising.

I though we should grabbed a Matta when he fell to us then maybe a goalie

I used to be a season ticket holder for the Rochester Amerks when I lived there. It appears I will be going to the Nov. 9 game when the Phantoms are in Rochester. Both teams are loaded.

goalies are pretty much a crap shoot.. aside from carey price (who is overrated IMO) and cory schnieder, none of the guys taken with a high pick have panned out in the past several years.. rask you could make the argument, but he was drafted 7 years ago

fleury was taken 1st overall but the pens really haven't gotten great goaltending from him.. he had a couple decent years

    rinne - 258th
    lundqvist - 205th
    miller - 138th
    quick - 72nd

defense is difficult to draft, goalies are nearly impossible.. you're just as likely to steal a guy like hovinen as you are to draft a starting goalie

because of that, the flyers seem to only draft forwards in the first round (sbisa is the only D-man they've taken since 2003)

One game for the rookie goalie he's still finding his angles on the smaller rink no one knows at this point if he'll turn out but goalies usually take a lot longer than any other player. Awaz is right Dmen second longest so drafting fwds is smart quickest reward and you can always trade for other positions later.

Depending on the type of dman you like Bourdon the toughest, Gusty best offensively and Manning all round...I like them all!

We need hockey why can't they just settle on 50/50 and be done with it they'll never recover 3 billion if the season is washed...idiots.
