Southern venues are not as hot as in August and a wider range of courses in better shape in May than in August.

There was also this, which is sort of related to what I said, but they didn't state it in so many words -

• Television and media consumption are as healthy or healthier during that time of year.

It's sweeps month, more people watch TV in May than in August and they figure by making it #2 in the majors schedule it will translate into more interest.

I was at Beth Page for the Open in '02 on sat/sun.

That course is pretty brutal.

Koepka shot 63 today and didn't birdie either par 5. Not bad. I had the opportunity to play the Black when I was in New York a while back. I thought I was a good golfer but I shot 102. I played the back tees but I'm not sure if they were the same ones the pros used during the U.S. Open.

Agreed. It is clearly #4 on the Majors list. Its Augusta by a mile then the U.S. Open then the British and then the PGA in that order. I'd love to win it though.

Yeah, I know the'll never go back to that. It was pretty grueling for the eventual winners, sometimes they would end up playing over 100 holes in a week's time. Plus, it take a bit of the drama away when you can't have more than two players with a shot on the final day.

But if they're looking for wild gimmicks, I got other ideas

Majors have the diehard fans locked in already...the gravy is in the fringe golf fans that the Masters is able to attract. The PGA is always going to be playing 4th fiddle, but this move to May gets it away from football.

3) So sick and tired of the media having to CONSTANTLY hammer on about each and every player's chances. Apparently, Koepka won the tournament yesterday while Tiger missed the cut.

Of course it's not likely but Tiger could shoot 65, 68, 68 and win the fucking thing while Koepka could go 72, 70 ,73 and lose. It's golf...shit happens but these guys seem to have nothing but constant predictions. Can we just watch the damn tournament?

I can understand you not liking it (for whatever reason) but what makes it a stupid move?

Daly...at one time I was a big fan of his game...now? Hard to feel sorry for a guy that has abused his body over the years and continues to...if the cameras were not on him I think he would swap the diet coke for Miller Lite & cigs.
