Word is Jack Capuano could be out as Isles coach if the team doesn't go on a winning streak. Apparently Cappy was shaking hands with everyone he could last night. He was relieved the team came back & beat Montreal. So Lavy isn't the only head coach on the hot seat.

Just who does Garth expect Jack to win with? I really like some of the young players and I love Tavarres but come on....

lol Wow. Just a bit over the top don't ya think skippy?

I mean, we get it...you don't like the Flyers. Got it, but c'mon man...

I actually dont hate the Flyers...I hate the rag$. I almost have a soft spot for the Flyers (actually work in Vorrhees most days right around the corner from their facility) but I do think you guys got used and abused on this trade...and that aint easy to do when you trade with Toronto....

The Lavy death watch did spark some fun discussions though. I actually DO think torts will get canned if the rag$ miss the playoffs (which i dont think they will, but they just might...I hope)

No one thinks that Homer tries to shake things up with a trade first? I think bringing in a veteran or two would make a much bigger impact than swapping coaches. Lavy's a good coach, I wouldn't blame this season on him.

I honestly have no idea what they're gonna do. I'm just disgusted right now.

i dont.. i would actually be more surprised if they made a trade than if they did nothing and just road it out.. i think homer was on the same page as you, they needed a little more veteran leadership.. but knuble has been around for a month or so now, gagne for a week or two.. you already have timonen, talbot, fedetenko.. that's what, like 4 cups (gagne, talbot, fedetenko x2?)

plus homer has been pretty clear that he's not going to trade the young guys for veterans.. he says he wont be making any trade that doesn't help them in the future as well as this season.. granted, he also said he wasn't trading richards.. or carter.. or jvr.. or bobrovsky.. but, at this point, the flyers need a lot more than a veteran rental to right the ship i think, so a vet rental would be pointless

lots of young guys that are a little undisciplined and a group that doesn't play team defense.. and you have a coach in the minors that is known for discipline, young guys, and defense (terry murray).. it just makes too much sense.. i think if/when homer decides the flyers aren't making a run this year, lavy will be fired and murray will start implementing his stuff with a pre-offseason training camp

I felt the same way at the end of last season. :gaah:

Good point. Is anyone blaming the goaltending this year or is the consensus still on the defense?

It's hard because Bryz has been inconsistent BUT the team defense has been atrocious.

I think it's best to stick with Bryz. Fleury has had similar issues for us, but just knowing that he has the ability to steal big games makes me feel comfortable with him.. even after last year.

yep.. TEAM defense.. the flyers just play with too big of a gap between the forwards and dmen, anybody that plays any semblance of defense or a slight tweak towards a trap, eliminates the flyers ability to score 5 on 5 and creates a million turnovers, which end up in the back of the net because bryz refuses to make big saves on a consistent basis..

..but even if you have broduer both in net at the same time, having millions of turnovers is still a bad strategy

It makes you really appreciate what Pronger brought to that team a couple of years ago. Even though it was a bad contract, he could eat a lot of minutes and provide some great leadership.

Haha! Initially, I think most of us agreed that the price tag was high, but he did get them to the finals. If they had won, then the price wouldn't have been an issue. I'd gladly lose cap room for a few years if it meant a Cup victory.

That's basically exactly how the Penguins played you in the second and third last night, and we scored four goals with it. Then again, our weakness is also the trap.
