Penalty?

Isn't there an assisting the runner penalty? I swear it used to be a thing but it seems like I see happen all the time in college and the NFL (a player without the ball shove the ball carrier to get more yards or a firstdown/touchdown) and it not be called. Is that not a penalty anymore? Did I imagine it to begin with? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

It's a penalty but they rarely call it. It has to be really blatant. As long as you get a piece of a defensive player while pushing the runner forward it won't get called.

AFAIK the rule still exists in college football, however refs only call it when a player is pushing the ball carrier out in the open. If the ball carrier is in a pile while being pushed, they let that go.

Nah, I didn't shop it. I'm not that good.

I just know how to find them. There is a trick to it that's very easy.
