He realizes he must throw in the towel on what he's been trying to do the last 3 years.
True or False?
True or False?
is that really the smartest thing to do? just keep doing what you've been doing but simplify it.
-------I don't really know if a major change would make matters any worse.
It's more than a complication issue IMO. They haven't stopped the running game for three years now. They don't play well up front. It's a trend.

It may not make matters worse but the players aren't stupid. If they see anything resembling even moderate change now, they are going to lose faith or worse panic because they'd think that's what the coaching staff is doing. Just spend the two weeks teaching them how to tackle. That alone would be a huge positive step.

I don't know about "completely new", but I'm thinking he's finally going to change something up. After an FCS team gashes you the way we got gashed on Saturday, he better think about change.
Not sure how hard it is to switch from 2-gap to 1-gap, but that would be the change I see. We've got to get this DL to stop playing pattycake and attack and the 2-gap is the biggest problem. Oh, that and Dobson, but firing a strength coach in the middle of the season isn't going to improve anyone's strength, that needed to be done back in January.
-----Being able to tackle someone 'after' they've already gained 7, 10, 14 yds untouched isn't going to improve matters much.
It may actually give the players a dose of self confidence. I don't think they're buying into the scheme they're in now.
