I'm surprised by this. I always thought Fanene was valuable because of his versatility. It will be interesting to see what's wrong with his knee.

BTW -- Wasn't Marvin pissy about Fanene's efforts during the lockout? I seem to remember him having a hard time getting in shape for the season. I wonder if this guy's preparation and 'healing time' have cost him.

Looks like letting him go was the smart play...about 4 mill down the tubes for NE just for his signing bonus.

I liked Sims ability in the run game, but I sorta figured they'd cut him this year. DT doesn't worry me as much as DE..... Peko has been very durable in his career, Atkins has been great, and we invested some picks on DT in the draft. If Geathers and Dunlap are hurt, DE will be a mess -- Fanene would help if he's healthy, but it sounds like he's not.

If he gets the surgery now.... He is back by game 6 or 7....on a prorated salary since he collected 3.85 already...Geathers or someone on that line will be hurt and he will come knockin and the deal will be done...He knows the defense and will plug right in...Stay tuned.

If he has degenerative arthritis, as has been rumored, he's done.....remember Peter Warrick?

Pats are saying he didn't disclose his injury. They are going after his bonus money.

I read this too, and it just doesn't make sense. He passed a physical administered by the Patriots. Maybe they should go after their doctors.

Where is all the outrage about Bob Kraft getting fleeced by injured FAs?
