My question in those close games isn't just what advantage it gives Brady, but also is it part of the reason NE simply doesn't fumble? If you can get a tighter grip on the ball than your opponents can on theirs does that help catching balls and keeping from fumbling? If so (and again, it's all predicated on reports being true of course) then this finding would taint all close games they had in my mind, and likely the mind of most fans.

You know I don't have any personal ax to grind here. I don't like or dislike the Pats and haven't been a 'hater' on these boards against them.

I'm glad that either way it will be a fair game from the standpoint of equipment this Sunday and that the two top teams are on it. Hope it's a close game down to the wire. As much as there was satisfaction in crushing the Broncos last year, it did make for a boring game for most of the football world. A 4th quarter comeback would be awesome this time.

I hear ya and legit question. I dont know if its more fumble prone with 1-2 lbs of pressure, i know if its real spongy then sure, easier to hole on. I was wondering why Brady passes in first half were kinda ducks and I think with less pressure and wind, can see that being case and they didnt fumble once in second half with a lot of carries. Also Brunnell said you could throw an underinflated ball further and I call BS. That I have tried before and can throw further with more air

A less inflated ball will travel slower. The ESPN show that got pulled, which people could see on youtube proved that.

So you are suggesting that science can completely absolve the Pats of all intentional wrong doing here? :L

I guess that shouldn't surprise me.

Let me clue you in here for a second, but lets assume you could prove those balls can deflate through some weather/temperature/preparation process. Given that it hasn't been happening for other teams it's still possible (and probable in my mind) that this 'process' was done intentionally.

Good luck proving nothing happened on purpose with that process alone. All it does is make having a smoking gun to do something about it a lot more difficult. You would have to have an insider spill the beans to do anything about it.

Again we're dealing with incomplete information. Did the Colts deflate but not under the line?

Sonny, That's why I would only look at games that came down to a play or two deciding it. One would have to assume there is some kind of advantage to doing this if it is indeed proven it was done on purpose and likely has been over some period of time, otherwise why do it? You don't risk getting caught doing something shady unless the risk/reward made it attractive enough. I won't claim to be an expert on what that reward potential is.

That doesn't disprove what I said. All I said is science alone will not disprove that anything was done on purpose. Certainly if it was that easy to do under what might be considered normal and common procedures then we would have seen more of this as common. I mean it wasn't particularly that cold in Foxborough that night. Not nearly as cold as some of the snow games and frigid games common in the upper midwest every year.

To have more than one team (reportedly) complain about it from more than one game AND they find all balls tested to be well below requirements means to me that any attempt to use science alone to prove no wrong doing isn't possible. At best it would simply give the avenue for how they achieved it.

Stephen Hawkings told me personally that Brady and Belichick are lieing

Next time you talk to him tell him to stop shitting in my mailbox. It isn't funny anymore and I can tell by the wheelchair tracks it's him.

I have no clue if they let out air or didnt. I'm not gonna waste my time making up excuses for them. Let's see where it ends up, and if guilty, pay the piper, and it almost backfired with the underinflated balls in first half

My sentiments exactly.

It doesnt matter PF, this is about Patriots. Funny thing is though that the NFL has never caught the pats doing anything but were turned in

2007- First game of season after memo comes out , that you can film but the sidelines are restricted. Mangini HC of Jets, ex Pats DC has security grab the Pats cameraman Spygate

2007? Matt Walsh ex Pats asst cameraman says he has tapes back before he got fired in beginning 03. Brought to NFL commssion, viewed and supposedly found nothing.

2015 Balt tip off Colts about Pats using deflated balls. Check at half time and they are off 2 lbs.

Funny thing is Belichick took Mangini from being a ball boy to being a DC at like 34 years old, Mangini takes the Jets HC job and not only tries to steal coaches and players, he knew of this practice and throws Pats under bus. Also Pats caught a Jets guy with a camera and escorted him off field, instead of blowing a whistle.

Ozzie Newson was an assistant for Belichick at Cleveland, and when he was looking for a coach he called Bill. he recommended Harbaugh and vouched for him. Talk about guys biting the hand that fed you or made you. This is the old saying : No more honor among thieves

The less likely to fumble thing makes some sense but lets also not forget guys from the Parcell's school like B.B. and Coughlin are hell on fumblers. If you fumbe you sit and they find someone who doesn't or they work with you until you don't (Like Tiki Barber). Sure the less inflated ball may help with less fumbles but I'd put more stock on the coaching of these specific guys

It explains why both balls could have deflated but only the Patriots balls were under the limit. .

Science?

Bowdoin professor and a Patriot fansshows how easy it is. He did this test at 40 degrees.

5 SB's with Brady and B.B., total margin of victory 16 points. I don't have a horse in this race and other than hitting a box I'm just hoping for a good game

All 5 SB's that they were in with Brady, they had leads in all 5 and last the last 2 in last minute or so. Why not build up the leads with shady practices and yet, never called out by a ref or officials for doing so. Lets say you have a 30 min lunch break and you and your assistant go to lunch and take 31-32 minutes and do it for years and boss never questions it. Now your assistant gets a promotion in a different dept and goes to upper management and tell them that he/she has noticed that you have been taking extended lunch breaks and they time and nab you

Exactly Ridley for instance he coughed up ball a few times and was benched. Moss comes into a meeting late cause of snow and he doesn't start a game. Gray who had 200 yards against Colts, forgets to set timer to wake him up, misses a meeting and doesn't play again. If you guys think Belichick is just about winning, why do this?

I consider that part of winning. He sets a tone of no excuses and winning is the bottom line. No one os above the team and other than one or 2 guys you're replaceable

Absolutely Cyder and sometimes to a fault. Your getting big money to hold onto the damn ball and have been doing so for maybe 15-20 years by now, pop warner,hs.college.

Back to my last post, Moss mouths off about not getting the ball enough to media ( after his record breaking 07 season) and is cut. This goes to show that Belichick will do anything to win, esp cutting one of the best WR ever. Some coaches would have been kissing his azz to keep him happy. Need team chemistry and not "me people"

One of he things I also always admired about the Pats since B.B. took over is they always seem to know when to cut a guy loose. They never seem to do it "a year too late". Occassionaly they may cut a guy loose early to avoid a cap hit down the road but they just restock. Of course having Brady doesn't hurt. Especially when you deflate a few balls for him.

More than a few, at least 10-11. He is kind of like a Bill Walsh who would let a player go a year before they were done, hindsight I guess. I know i couldnt coach like that, because I would let sentiment and history win. Like when Logans was out a few games and on way down, Pats offered him less money and he declined and left. Brady has taken 3 paycuts to bring or keep better talent around him. How many pros can say they have done that?

Brady wants to win and has the advantage of a wife that makes more than him. There aren't many but there are others. Tim Duncan and his fellow Spurs have taken less so they can bring in young talent because they want to win. It also helps them to play less minutes a game during the regular season and probably has prolonged their careers. And then there's guys like Kobe who have 6 rings and now just want to cash in as much as possible.

Brady sacrifices some in salary because he is smart enough to know that he would not be near as marketable as a brand if he played for a loser.
