I say giving up a third round pick for a 32 year old coming off an injury is crazy. Even the Patriots got him in the 5th round. There are a LOT of good players available in the 3rd round...particularly early. There are not a lot of good linebackers who are older than him...but there are a few. The only positive for the Falcons is that his injury was to his arm...not his leg...so he might be effective for now....if he can stay healthy.
Opinions are fine. You think the trade is a win for the Patriots. Others think it's a win for the Falcons. I think it's a fair price for the Patriots and a reasonable gamble for the Falcons. Judon still hasn't been signed to an extension. It'll be interesting to see how things play out.

Judon has underwhelmed so far and the Falcons pass rush is still a weak link for them. We will see if he turns it around but right now, he's costing himself any shot at a big payday. He was basically invisible yesterday despite going up mainly against a 4th string rookie. Maybe the Pats knew what they were doing here after all.

He is going to turn 33 before next year. He never really had a shot at a big payday by NFL standards.

The only big multi year contract for anyone not a QB over the age of 33 that I can think of was the Von Miller contract.

And you can see how that is working. If your teams is guaranteeing dollars past year 1 for a guy that age, you can usually bet it is money poorly spent.

A 3rd round pick is an awful lot to pay for a rental who's not exactly kicking ass at this point, and especially if he signs elsewhere next season. However, there's a lot of football left and he could still end up being a solid trade for the Falcons, even if he doesn't get extended.
