We've got the guys already in place to win with long speed in Franklin and Mims. So it makes sense to get someone who can win in the short area quickness and have strong hands to catch it in traffic.
What I seen was 5 to 7 yards after the catch ...that is pretty good .

Yes sir! The fit is perfect for what we needed. I think I am more upset with myself for not locking onto Bryant a little more for us in the draft. For the type of WR I talked about we need to draft even though I liked Bryant he just sort never got talked about enough. I know I brought him up a few times earlier in the discussion but I feel like he was the forgotten about WR in our draft discussion.

Barron just never really seemed like he would be there for us and we weren't locked on CB discussion in Round 1.

But I really like these two picks.

I think this is one of those drafts it didn't wow me, but we solved some of our biggest issues remaining on the roster. There are times you need a player that is just all around talented and then there are times you need a specialist that can solve an issue that no one else on the roster can do.

I think of all those great Patriot teams. Was Wes Welker really the best WR talent wise? I guess it depends how you define talent. What he did though was fit a role they had within that offense that was needed to make it work. I view Bryant a lot in the same way. That big slot WR that can block and work the short/intermediate part of the field opens up every other part of the offense. You can't key off him whether we are running or passing. You make LB's and Safeties have to stay true to the middle of the field opening up some things down the sideline. And now 3rd and say 3-5 yards just got a lot more dangerous for this offense knowing you have a guy that can help extend drives.

Nick always says a WR room should be like a basketball team. You need a point guard type guy. That to me is Sutton. The rest of the passing game flows through him. You have your shooting guard in a guy like Mims that can attack and score at any time. Engram is our small forward that you can move around depending on the matchup. Bryant is the Power Foward that does the dirty work in the middle. Not sure we have a center quite yet.

Agree with this and agree with Nick on the WR room being sorta like a basketball team. I have always eluded to the WR room that everyone has to do something different. Unless of course you have 6 Justin Jefferson/Jamar Chases who do "everything", but this is sorta why I am ok with Sutton as our #1 even though I don't feel he is that "true #1", he is a good # 1 if the guys around him do the other things and all contribute. I like our WR room.

I think this could be a draft where we look back and put our final stamp of approval on Payton/Paton are REALLY good at what they do.. They pretty much already have for me which is why I am at this rate I just trust in them. I may not buy into all of the picks when I see the name pop up on the screen but I buy into what these two do together so it is hard for me to be down about any draft pick at this point. Like I said earlier, once I focus on who we drafted and not who we didn't draft and get by that stage, I am really ok with it. I don't have that SUPER exciting reaction like I did the last two picks because the Broncos drafted some of my favorite players so I was probably due not to be WOWed. The difference is if I liked an Elway draft I sorta though to myself "I like it but I don't trust Elway drafting so how good will it actually turn out no matter how excited I am? (and his draft didn't excited me very often to be honest but he had a few) if I am not SUPER excited about a Payton/Paton draft which so far the other two with Payton I was, the previous one without Payton but with Paton I wasn't.. Anyway, with these two it is sorta the opposite where I tell myself, "not super excited". but I probably should be.
I already think they are but like you I wasn't "WOWed" by the draft but I am not upset with it either. This could be a draft to put fans in their place. "You may not love what we did on paper, but watch us work."

That being said I am really excited about Barron, Bryant and Jones. Even though other then Jones I never really had the other two ending up a Bronco to feel the excitement about. WIth Barron I just simply was locked into RB with the assumption he wouldn't eve be there for us even though he was my 2nd fav personal DB in the draft to Malaki Starks and with Bryant, I hate to admit it but I never even though about him as a Bronco when I should have. Jones I geared up for as potentially a Bronco and a player I would have been happy to be a Bronco.

Once I get it out of my mind which RB's we didn't take I am fine with RJ Harvey. Payton has been great when when drafting RB's early. He has a type and it works.

When it comes to the draft and you eat, sleep and bleed draft year around you hope every draft is a WOW, this is what I wanted or this is what I would have done but when it doesn't happen and you start to focus on who we got and not who we didn't get you can enjoy any draft. I like it, I wasn't WOWed because of the players I wanted but I am excited about it.

I don't think Barron was on any one's radar even the Broncos. They loved him obviously but the idea he would be there at 20 seemed crazy. I definitely was thinking take best WR, DL, or RB whoever was there, but sometimes you just can't pass up when someone so talented falls to you.

And I'm with you I hadn't really pictured Bryant with the Broncos but that was in part because I wasn't sure when the Broncos would even look towards a WR in the draft.
