Anyone know where it is? I mean fuck, Jones had all day to throw back there. I don't care who your CB are, someone will get open if the QB has 4 seconds to throw the ball. Not sure if is was game plan (send 3 and see what happens) or they just can't do it? Is the lack of depth on the DL hurting this team? Are opposing OL able to handle the smaller guys 1on1. IDK, but it has to change. If Ben was at QB I feel they beat NE by 2 TD's, he would have torn this team apart.

Buffalo has a good OL and will own this DL by the 3rd Q if we can't get more than 2 300 pd DL.

The plan Sunday appeared to be very simple. Rush 4 and have 7 in zone coverage. That didn't work because playing a zone against very fast WR can leave the defense running behind the WR all day. The other part was rush 3 and drop 8 into coverage and have the CB man to man with medium range double teams and the safties back 18-20 yards to take the deep receivers over the top. The 3 man rush was perfect for the situation with Landry Jones. Watch the game again and you'll see that Jones was horrible with a 3 man rush. He couldn't find anyone open and threw the ball out of bounds 6-7 times. On most of those plays the OL couldn't hold the defense for more than 4-5 seconds and Jones had to run out of the pocket. On three separate occasions, the Steelers got caught tackling the defensive linemen and it cast Pittsburgh 2 first downs.

This week it'll be a totally different story. Belichick will rush four hard and puch the pocket back. Ninkovich and Freeney will curl around the edge and pinch forcing Taylor to throw or get hit. The Bills don't have Watkins, Wood or Goodwin available and that's their 1,2,3 WRs. The Bills have a good OL but once a couple of seconds have gone by, it's really difficult for an OL not to grab a shirt or a shoulder pad and start pulling down to impede forward progress and the yellow flags start to fly. The really interesting thing will be a 3 man rush and Taylor thinking he's going to run forever when Hightower and Collins will be pulling wide and immediately turning back in to meet him at the line of scrimmage. He'll do it two maybe three times and will stay home or risk getting decapitated.

This Patriots team is not being quarterbacked by Jacoby Brissett with a broken thumb.

McCoy might not play. With all these guys out.....the D should have a great day.

He is a better fit as a 3-4 OLB and can rush the QB. Should be interesting. Not sure why he just was not traded for Bostic earlier in the year when that went down.

Expect a lot of this back and forth type stuff with the Lions going forward. Especially when Josh McD becomes the head coach in Detroit next year.

So what is up with Mingo? I thought he was the speed edge guy we needed. Is this going to be another bust trade? Mingo, Shea, Flowers, Van Noy, JSher, Long.

They were also down two DT's as Hamilton and Valentine were ruled out - probably factored into the coverage style gameplan (only two active DT's = more three man nickle/dime fronts)

Sometimes we forget how long it takes to fit into the system. Mingo is an excellent special teamer and an edge backup - for now.
Van Noy is just depth.....

Yeah, but I am reading Van Noy can pass rush, and we need that. So I am a little confused. Look at the LB core. HT, Collins, Roberts, Shea, Mingo, Van Noy. DE are Long, JSher, Flowers, Nink.....IDK, I have a bad feeling that Mingo is not what BB expected and is now a ST guy for the next few yrs...

Mingo is not a 2016 position player. He's getting ST play full time and has been used a number of times in specific instances in the Dime defense. Patricia has used him to replace Hightower on some pass coverage because HT is not fast enough to stay with smaller TEs. Mingo will be on the field a lot more in 2017 if Collins or HT go free agent.

Neither has been 100% healthy this year and their value has taken a big hit. The Jets will crack the bank to get either, just to take one away from the Patriots, but I think BB will make both fair offer.
