Yeah cal I agree 100%. It's weird that a player would rather play home instead of have a shot at the cup. makes you wonder if bobby ryan would play for nj? Even though he said he hates north nj. Or vanriemsdyk.
I do believe if he isnt extended him going to Winnipeg is a legit shot. I remember reading how "bummed" out he was he couldnt play there this year
Was Zajac part of the White/Langenbrunner posse as well? I'm pretty sure Parise was part of the group. Wonder if that had anything to do with him leaving.
in Terms of value to the team, Parise leaving outweighs Zajac however without Parise, an aging Elias and Kovy(getting there soon) would need help, Zajac departure could be another huge blow.
Zajac is a legit number 1 center and losing him would be almost as bad as losing Zach, he is not only the man you put on the ice when you need a big goal and he is the best face-off man we have as well... he kills penalties and works on the PP!
All I could think when Zajac came back last year was God damn did I miss having this guy on the team. His passing is immaculate, he plays great 2 way hockey, he's a beast along the boards and in the faceoff circle. I think losing Zajac would possibly hurt more than losing Parise. It's easier to find a scoring line winger than a number 1 center.
Parise hurts because of the leadership but Im confident that others can step up and fill the hole. The work ethic can still be passed down despite him not being there.
Zajac hurts more only because he's a center. Need that faceoff talent and grinding play style
