I'd be fine with him back. That way if someone gets killed it's not Dalton. That way next year maybe we can upgrade the line before Dalton has to play behind it.

To be honest I wish they just would have traded him after the lockout. that would have been best longterm assuming his value was as high as has been suggested...

playing one more season is a decent compromise at this stage.

but he'll have to learn a new offense in a couple of weeks, and he'll only be here during a rebuilding yr

Mike is delusional enough to believe that Palmer back at any point would be good. With the easy schedule and new offense, I'm sure he'd convince himself the Bengals could win a bunch of games and Palmer would want to come back....and yes, welcome.

I think we could win 6-8 games with Palmer.

The only forbidden subject is pron. I don't know if the word itself is banned, but we're not allowed to post any, although there is a "hot chicks" thread somewhere on here. As for cursing, go for it. I imagine there will be a lot of it on game days.

Futball can you link us to the thread?

sorry, there's no thread...

Palmer's buddy posted it in a thread about Favre rumor: "We don't need any more 'coming out of retirement' press conferences than we will already have."

I know it sounds sketchy, cryptic, etc, but that guy's on the money about Palmer from what I've noticed.

Just a rumor at this point.

He's not coming back.

It would be awkward if he did because a lot of guys on the team have said some stuff about his leadership (or lack there of) and I don't know if it would work for the locker-room.

The Bengals need to worry more about their OL and protecting this kid or he's going to have the "klingler" look by week 3.

I don't think it would be awkward. A lot of these guys have been together for a good part of 4-5 years. They understand the situations. The veterans know what Palmer is about, and I'm sure they don't blame him for wanting out. On the flip side, Palmer knows that stuff has to be said, whether it's about leadership or anything else. The veterans can't allow the young guys to dwell on the negatives.

I'd be willing to bet they'd welcome Palmer back with open arms, with the exception of maybe Benson.

Why would Palmer want to come back, he'd put his little brother out of a job and he'd have to play behind a struggling interior OL and risk injury. makes no since, unless it's a negotiation tactic.

Good point. If he was thinking about coming back, and watched the interior line play the other day, he probably changed his mind.

I don't think the condition of the OL is a factor to Palmer......it's Mike Brown, and it's his wife upset about the trash thrown in the yard, and it's the crap his kids are hearing, and I think the booing got to him last year.....hell, he played with basically the same guys on the line the last two seasons....

I agree it'd be awkward...

But the Willie Anderson "tweets" a week or so ago have me convinced that there are things going on behind the scenes. even if Palmer doesn't play this yr, I'd be shocked if both sides weren't still working on a temporay resolution

as far as protecting Dalton longterm, the best startegy might be to play a veteran QB behind the porous line, at least early in the season

I wonder if he's waiting for Jordan to get cut, so he's not responsible for Jordan's release. May be a bit far-fetched, but that could be why he made his comments to the friend. That way if they plan on cutting Jordan, they do it quick enough.

He's not coming back. It's that simple.

Understood...

I'm just floating the rumor out there because I trust the source (by anonymous message board standards)....

we'll see what happens

I wouldn't be shocked if he came back, especially as the preseason comes to the end.

I wouldn't be shocked if he pulled the Michael Strahan maneuver either.

Honestly, and I know I'm in the minority, I want Palmer back. Dalton needs a mentor and I don't want to watch the Bengals lose 16 games. One year, agree to trade, win-win for everybody including the fans, organization, and Palmer.
