LOL. USC got Troy Polamalu out of Oregon during the Pete days which is more than Oregon has gotten out of Cali durring that time and since if you combined them all . Haloti Nata was about the best you got and he isn't close to the player Troy was. So one player USC got out of Oregon>all the players Oregon got outta So Cal. I would take that every day and twice on Sunday.

Didn't Ngata go to high school in Utah?

oh..so so close .. part of being a real contender is depth..Bama lost a lot last season but still competed. Again, if SC continues to falter, Oregon will be the big beneficiary unless Stanford or UCLA turn it around. But if SC gets back to winning double digit seasons, it's going to make Oregon work that much harder to get some kids. I view TCU in an Oregon type of mode tbh..but Oregon has a higher ceiling since they are a bigger school and have Phil Knight as it's main booster.
Depth was fine at 1 2 and even 3 but finishing with a 5th string at qb? what other school has done that and still salvaged a ranking at the end?
not to mention other positions that had injury as well.

I was just curious what players you were talking about. Texas fan said when USC was rolling you got less of the talent in Cali and when they were down (lately) you guys benifited. You countered (which means you disagreed) and said even durring the Pete days you got good players. I dont recall many Oregon USC battles for top players going Oregons way when Pete was here. I do recall Oregon was getting different types of players once Chip started to do his thing. Smaller quicker O linemen and smaller really quick skill position players . Those you guys got more than anyone.

point is they were doing well even when USC wasnt in a slump. yes as they went down oregon might have went up those last 2 wins or so but also consider the conference split which changed the dynamic.

getting good players doesnt mean there were recruiting battles. going back that far couldnt tell you what the % showed when they were hot or cold on different teams or what ended up leading to them picking Oregon.
Terrance Kelly, Jerome Boyd, Geoff Schwartz, Jaison Williams, Jerome Johnson, Ed Dickson, Jeremiah Johnson, Kenny Rowe, Anthony Gildon were all recruited by USC

then there are Ca guys who weren't recruited by USC for whatever reason but were also recruited by schools like Nebraska, Michigan, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa, Miami.

Heard the pac12 was discussing the possibility of having an 11 game all conference schedule.

I really don't want to miss Michigan or watching Ohio state undress the ducks again, but I admit I'd rather play every other pac12 team than most of the other ideas I've heard.

feels like the PAC will wait til the spring to have it's season, but how does this effect the other conferences? This is gonna get really interesting.
