Barkley was a once in a decade talent for that school. He was over 50% of their entire offense last year. While they have a really nice QB, they aren’t gonna be anywhere near putting up the ground game numbers they had last year with him gone.

They could make the Rose, but Mich and Wisky could easily make it there as well. Depends how the big10 shakes out and who plays in their conf championship game and outcome.

I really don't see what people see in their QB. He seems to throw it up for grabs in critical situations.

I've watched him fairly closely as my son just graduated from there this spring and I followed Penn State because he was there. He's got a strong arm and a fairly solid deep ball, but is also prone to forcing plays. Barkley really helped sort of mask some of his flaws and of course made his play action way more effective. They are really struggling to find balance after his exit. I don't see them winning the big games and staying in the top 25.

He’s scrappy and makes plays. Also a mega douche with his homerun swing celebration.

I get that he's fun to watch and he looks like quite the competitor. But I think maybe he didn't work at his craft as much because of how physically gifted he is. He doesn't look comfortable in a structured offense.
I must admit when he was doing that home run swing thing at the Rose Bowl I couldn't be happier to watch him throw up the game losing INT. lol

I know you won't accept @nddulac (at least I don't think you have in the past), offering an Avi bet again this year if you want.

Larry Scott is an idiot. Even the most homer of homer USC fans knows that was a targeting call and exhibit AAA of why he needs to be fired. Not even an I'm sorry your quarterback got concussed?

If it's the play I'm thinking of, I agree. I remember thinking "that could have cost us the game".

Neuheisel was pretty defiant that this was a targeting by both measures and was a text book example.

It's comical that it wasn't called and entirely tragic the home office is standing by that claim. There is zero chance that doesn't meet the full criteria for targeting on a defenseless player.

No pylon needed even. Right clarky?

Jesus, that would be “targeting” before targeting was even a thing. It’s been illegal to lead with the crown of the helmet since at least the 80s. Larry’s even dumber than we all though if he’s defending that not being called.

Look for a lot of flags this weekend though. You know they’ll be all over anything remotely questionable since this fuck up is getting so much attention.

I'm sure it was, it was a terrible non call and you could tell Minschew felt it, but our kicker didn't get targeted nor did our corners. It didn't cost us the game like some Cougs feel but I do think it played a factor in him checking into two run plays in a row at the end of the game
