Because the PAC and B12 already have 9 P5 teams on the schedule. The SEC, BIG and ACC did it as an out for teams like Miss St, Ole Miss and Virginia to have 9 P5 teams. Many of the other teams in those conferences have an OOC rival that is in a major conference.

When and who decides these stupid things. Welp at least the PAC 12 sees through the other conferences bullshit like me. So what’s the criteria of being a P5 team. I’d like to know. Mystique, brand, the name? History? Do you think they’re a P5 team?

It's one of those things (like number of conference games) that is decided by each conference on their own, but shouldn't be.

If an Indy school is going to be considered P5 level, that should be something that all P5 conferences should be in agreement on. Just like all P5 conferences should play the same number of conference games. But...they don't.

As for BYU, I think they should be considered P5 by all conferences. As Wiz points out, they are generally no worse than the bottom half of any of the P5 conferences and often times, they can finish in the top half of P5 conferences.

Im not even going to go lower. Linfield may have had a better record but If you honestly think a DIII school is going to play up what equates to nearly 4 divisions III-II-FCS-G5-P5 and hope to win you are dumber than we all thought.
