Random question..if the Saints part ways with Sean Payton, would anyone be interested in jumping on him? I actually like Garrett, but I believe Payton is on another level as a playcaller

I'd give anything to get Payton back in here as our OC. I bet he gets another HC job right away though.

I'm also hoping we make a 5 year, $25M offer with first 3 guaranteed to Forte. :suds:

Now that Lawerence has emerged as an everyday quality player and Gregory's upside do we need to Draft a DE? I guess that means Gregory becomes a situational guy and Try to find a Superstar DE. I think QB or CB are the number one needs. RB 2nd round. I wouldn't be upset if we went WR in the second even though its not an immediate need. Maybe next year TE becomes a major need on this team. QB, CB, RB, LB, and S. LB is a high need IMO, but so are the other ones . So pick your poison. Would love to have Gotten the young CB thats in K.C. he's the type of player I thought MO would be.

I like Forte would be mad if we got him, I for one would like to get younger at RB though. Forte is getting up there and has been injured a lot. I know injuries are a part of football.

Run stuffing DT is a major need, no problems if we go QB or DB prior but a fat guy on the dline is needed.

I know it is a pipe dream, but I would love to get the run stuffing DT & a disruptive DT that gets pressure up the middle. Getting both in a one year would be kinda hard to believe but would be awesome & instantly make all our other defensive spots better.

Not really interested in drafting any DE's right now.

I think Crawford can be the pressure up the middle if his primary job is pressuring the QB.

I'll take a stab at overhauling the Cowboys...

It seems to me with the expiring contracts and a few cuts Dallas could have quite a bit of money to spend in Free Agency this year. Probably to the point the Cowboys could be players for anyone willing to come to Dallas.

1. Do not resign DE Greg Hardy - in my eyes, he clearly had a detrimental effect on team chemistry
2. Let CB Mo Claiborne walk - experiment over
3. Do not resign MLB Ro McClain - too unreliable, concussions starting to mount
3. Cut CB Brandon Carr
4. Cut SS Barry Church
5. Sign NT Damon Harrison - much needed run stuffing DT
6. Sign SS Eric Weddle - Sounds like he is leaving San Diego
7. Sign TE Dwayne Allen - shouldn't be too expensive
8. Look at signing a Muhammad Sanu, or Rueben Randle type - if money is available after first 3 signings
9. Re-sign DE Jeremy Mincey - Cheap depth, and seems like a good guy to have around the young players
10. Target the following players in the draft:
....1) FLA CB Vernon Hargreaves, FSU CB Jalen Ramsey
....2) ALA MLB Reggie Ragland, FLA MLB Jarrad Davis
....3) N.C.S QB Jacoby Brissett, N.D.S QB Carson Wentz
....4) LTU RB Kenneth Dixon, ILL RB Josh Ferguson
....5) GTU CB D.J. White, MINN CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun
....6) B.P.A.
....7) B.P.A.
11. Convert Byron Jones to FS full time, and don't look back
12. Fill in remaining roster space with depth as needed

With a loss this weekend and a top 2-5 draft pick, I don't see why any of this couldn't happen.

Yes Sir Don't know how I forgot that one, but you can probably find that guy in the middle of the draft.

I like but if I can make a few revisions. I

1. I would be happy with Ramsey, but I think Goff is a Greater need.
2. RB is a huge need maybe we can get one in F/A is some good names out there, maybe FA RB over Weedle. Whats is price tag?
3. Love moves 7 and 8.
4. I know Church struggles in coverage, but I like him more than I like Wilcox at least he helps in run support and can lay guys out.
5. Bye Mo and Carr
I would be happy with this plan though.

Amazing how a franchise QB can cover up most warts of a team

And the Cowboys are in better shape than most team with the supporting cast on both sides of the ball

I'm going to take some flack for this one. Would y'all sign or trade for Johnny say a 5th, this allows us to use our 1st on a CB or bpa. I know Johnny has some issues and brings the 3 ring circus to town, but I'm confident that if Romo goes down again he can win games with this roster.

In a heartbeat.......Manziel is definitely showing flashes that if you could surround him with some talent, there may be something to work with.......The Browns skill position players have to be as bad as any in the league

I like a lot of this. I really like your 3rd round QB option Wentz, I think he is a sleeper. Would like to see us sign a vet QB and would like to see a RB in the 2nd round. Thought your FA targets Harrison, Weddle and Allen were excellent

To each their own, of course. But if I may provide my reasoning...

1) I understand the want to get a QB in the 1st, but Romo is going to be here for a little while longer. We can draft a guy to develop instead, and I think Brissett could be someone with great potential - he played very well against top competition in the ACC.
2) RB is a need, I agree. I don't think it's such a huge need that we need to go out and sign someone, ala Matt Forte'. Darren McFadden played really well this year once he got his legs under him - I think he deserves another shot at starting next year. Robert Turbin has shown some flashes, Dunbar will be back, and in my scenario I have us drafting a RB in the 4th. I think we would have RB covered.
3) Definitely agree, Dwayne Allen is someone I really want, and Either Sanu or Randle would fit well opposite Dez.
4) Cutting CHurch over Wilcox is about saving money. They both provide similar skill sets, and in my scenario both will be on the bench.
5) Yup. I would consider re-signing Claiborne if it were very cheap, we will still need depth. Mo hasn't been terrible this year. And would be fine as a 3rd or 4th CB, if payed appropriately.
6) Weddle wouldn't break the bank, but would probably be pretty pricey. Dallas has the money, though. Pair Weddle and Jones at the Safety positions and I think that would be a terrific duo to back up a solid set of CB's in Scandrick and Hargreaves.

Thanks. I really think we need a solid MLB to build the LB corp around for the future - that guy will be available to us in the second. But I understand the need for a RB. I'm good with Wentz or Bissett.

The FA selections would be pricey, but should be within Dallas' budget. Harrison will cost, but won't break the bank, and neither will Allen. Weddle will be expensive, but he is quality, and Dallas can afford it.

I don't want Manziel, but must admit it's intriguing. If he's cheap OK, if it takes a third or higher pass. For a 5th why not, more than 1/2 of the time 5ths are throw away picks anyway.

Exactly, whether it's Manziel, Griffin, Kap, whoever, none of them are terrible options for a 5th rounder or $5 million a year backup money. It's when you spend a 1st round pick and 8 figures on one of those guys when it becomes absurd. Low risk, high reward, with the ability to cut bait

Well Lynch looked bad. Brissett and Prescott playing now in a down pour. I'm a Dak fan.
