Right? I mean, remember when all those threads popped up on the Hoop last year about where Lincoln Riley was gonna go to be the next HC at _________?

:happyshake: Nope, that was Herman but no...no...he's gonna be awesome at Muleshoe U cause this was OU's plan all along, have Stoops quit in early summer and replace him with a dude who aint never even sniffed a HC gig :laugh3::lie:

It really is insane isn't it? OU just let Texas Tech force them to make a move. That was about the only rumor out there. That KK would be fired and they would hire Riley.

Listen to them tell it though, they got the hottest up and coming coaching prospect in college football. All the blue bloods wanted this guy. They might have, as OC. :dhd:

100% false. Riley was actually in the process of putting a staff together for the Oregon job when Stoops and Castiglione got wind of it and essentially made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Riley was also previously interviewed for the SCar job. Additionally, he was linked to the Houston job, then sudden radio silence. Oklahoma made specific and calculated moves to keep him from pursuing the hiring process for multiple head coaching jobs. Nice try though. Thanks for playing.

Yes, points allowed a game is so stupid as to how effective a team is at stopping another team from scoring points. :L

Especially in the context that an Air Raid team is almost never good at defense. Notice I said team, of which the defense is only part of.

The team is absolutely responsible for how many points they give up. Which the goal is to give up as few as possible. Unless they changed the rules of football and I missed it.

Not being efficient, not giving up yards, it's still about points.

Yes, using ppga, especially in the context of a team that uses an Air Raid, is especially dumb.

They have to defend more possessions. Therefore they are going to give up more points. Like I said OU was 5th in defensive efficiency in 2015 and 28th in ppga. But go ahead and take Uconn's 2015 defense instead because they gave up less points. :pound:

You do know Oregon hired Taggert last December right? Is this what they are telling y'all down in Norman to make you feel better? That Oregon was going to hire him? Months before Oklahoma had an opening?

Because no other school you just named is a better job than Texas Tech. Especially not to Lincoln Riley. You guys stole him right from underneath the grasp of the powerhouse that is Texas Tech.

An OC with 2 years running an offense in a power conference is now the head coach at OU. I mean, what could go wrong? I'm sure he will be even better than Bob Stoops. :noidea:

Most years, I would take UConn's defense over almost all the Air Raid defenses. If you can't admit they are almost universally hot garbage, you need to stop looking at stats and watch a fucking football game. I've been watching this shit up close and personal for years now in the Big 12.

Yes. They wanted to hire him while Stoops was still head coach. I give zero shits if you believe it or not.

Please @ericd7633,

Give me 5 examples of head coaches from Air Raid offensive system having a top 25 defense by your efficiency metric. You think you are finding your golden goose by quoting 2015 Oklahoma as your example, but Lincoln Riley wasn't the head coach. Bob Stoops was. I'll patiently await while you dig through a decades+ worth of data over all those coaches to even find 5 seasons.

That is fucking pathetic. And typical of you, you are just playing devils advocate when you know damn good and well my overall point is correct. We have yet to see an Air Raid coach consistently or even occasionally field good defenses.

You are the type that attacks a source in a debate while ignoring the statement. Who gives a shit what metric I used, the point still stands.

Good, because I don't. If he was already picking out a staff, I could google Lincoln Riley to Oregon and at least get a few hits on Oregon insider pages covering the story. Strangely, nothing outside of Oklahoma or Dallas even mentions him as more than a possible candidate. Let alone the chosen guy.

Nobody said he was chosen. He was in the process of assembling a staff as part of the hiring process. But then again, nobody gives a shit whether you believe it or not. I'm betting Riley makes Texas his bitch just like stoops did. Maybe worse.

WVU's defense has been really good the last 2 years. Also, newsflash; Baylor was way better defensively under Briles than they were before he took over.
