So Uncle Phil couldn't afford to hire away OU's OC cause OU was waitin til early summer to make a coaching change so Riley stayed put?.....

View attachment 163130

Apparently it was a plan to lie to their recruits who were signing up to play for Stoops to only retire after they sign their letter of intent. At least according to this moron. Since they already knew in November when Riley was all but hired by Oregon and was already picking out his staff.

I wouldn't know where to even find those on ESPN. I'm not a particular fan of them, but football outsiders are kinda the gold standard of efficiency ratings. FEI and S&P get quoted by ESPN writers even. :pound:

Yea, Ol Boren came out right after Stoops left and was like...

People just don't get it.

They STILL cannot wrap their head around Stoops doing something for someone other than himself. I'll just say this. If Bob Fucking Stoops is willing to step away from the soda fountain because he thinks he's got the jim-dandiest soda jerk in town...well, I'm very inclined to rest assured that the program will be in great hands.

Woe to thee what have to belly up to the sideline and face this team, this year. That mouthy little bastard that throws the ball is dead set to bring home some hardware, and he won't be satisfied unless he gets them all. I ain't gonna doubt him either. Mikey was treading very choppy seas last season and found his way, he's gonna be coaching for his coaching life this year. I'll give him some leeway because the end of last season was a masterful job on the defensive side of the ball.

So hand me the sunshine pumper t-shirt and I'll wear that fucker with pride.

We're Oklahoma. Piss on ya.

I'm using ESPN. Baylor was #14 in 2013. Again, that took really long...

I'm sure you are using ESPN, it helps your argument...

I'll play along using your source. And give all the data. Not cherry pick.

5/25 ain't bad I guess? :noidea:

What the data tells me, is that it appears you are more likely to have a 100+ defense than a top 25 defense. I will admit that I am surprised slightly at some of those numbers. They aren't anywhere close to DFEI, but still I guess you were correct that you found 5. Somewhere on the internet...

Well, why didn't they hire him them? And is this seriously what y'all have resorted too? Oregon interviewed (but didn't hire) the head coach at OU? It's fucking beautiful. :pound:
Because he was given the keys to a much sweeter ride?

You think he's stupid or something?

You're gonna hate the next 18 just like the last 18 bucko.

Whatever you have to tell yourself.

"Oklahoma OC Lincoln Riley could be a target for the head coaching job at Oregon, according to a report."

This was your bombshell article that according to you guys means he turned down Oregon because he knew Oklahoma was gonna give him the keys. Literally not a single other word in there about anything to do with Oregon. :pound:

Let alone that Riley was about to be hired by them and was already picking out a staff like your brother claims.

I wasn't cherry picking dumbass. I did exactly what you told me to do. You didn't like that I found it that quickly and then go after the source. And it seems like Texas Tech is the biggest culprit, and guess what, they're fucking Texas tech. Probably the last school in Texas where kids would want to go from a P5 school. You need to STFU.

 more like he (and his agent) played OU like a fiddle..

Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley becomes one of the highest-paid assistants in college football

Guess Uncle Phil just couldn't do 1.5 per for his HC so.... Riley stayed put:hmm:

You think it was the money that kept him at OU? God, your fucking dense. He was essentially made HCIW at that point. I think the big plan was for him to take the keys in 2018, but Bobby just ran out of gas and decided he was done. Get ready, cause I got a hunch Riley ain't gonna let up on you ingrates when he gets a lead like Bob did. Y'all are about to be begging for Bob Stoops to come back to Oklahoma so your losses are a little less embarrassing.

The first preview segment for the Big 12 Conference: The West Virginia Mountaineers

Last season: Before I begin, let me just point out something: Over 130 replies to this thread already?! The 2nd-most replied thread on SportsHoopla all day yesterday... and I've barely gotten started with the previews!
Anyway, on to West Virginia. And their goals were REALLY simple in 2016: Up your numbers, or the coach is gone. And happily, they did just that as the Mountaineers got their first 10-win season since 2011 (and the first since they joined the Big 12!). Shame that they couldn't take out the Oklahoma schools, but I guess you can't have everything.

Bad news: The secondary lost a LOT of pieces from last year, and an already shaky D-line got even more unsettled when David Long got hurt. On offense, WVU lost it's starting QB and it's top 2 WR's...

Good news: ...but strangely, 2017's offense may be even better than 2016's. And you can blame a good O-line and RB Justin Crawford for that. Former Florida QB Will Grier was supposed to compete for the starting job, but he DOMINATED spring ball and WR's like David Sills couldn't have been more happy.

Key games:
9/3 vs. Virginia Tech [in Landover, MD] (SportsHoopla has a "WVU/VT hate thread" on the CFB forums right now. You don't think these 2 teams missed kicking the crap out of each other?)
10/7 @ TCU (If his rehab goes well, David Long could be back for this critical Big 12 encounter.)
10/28 vs. Oklahoma State (In this battle between these 2 offensive behemoths, it could be defense that actually wins it.)
11/18 vs. Texas (Senior Day in Morgantown, and it'll be the Mountaineers's 1st taste of a Tom-Herman coached team.)
11/25 @ Oklahoma (Remember last year's game? It was a beautiful winter wonderland! ...Well, at least the Sooners like it.)

Bottom line: Let's be frank here; the Big 12 is gonna be wide-open thanks to Bob Stoops retiring, Texas getting Tom Herman, and nobody really ready to trust Oklahoma State to win it. So if West Virginia's defense can stop SOMEBODY and beat one of the Oklahoma schools, they'll have as good a chance as anybody to be in the Big 12 title game.

Oklahoma

Preview segment: The Oklahoma Sooners

Last season: A push for a national championship is always goal #1 for fans of Oklahoma. But if that's not possible they'll settle for a conference title and a major bowl.
Well, thank god that Oklahoma got up from losing to Houston and Ohio State to accomplish the latter; after that they ran through the Big 12, grabbed another conference crown, and took out Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. Now QB Baker Mayfield is ready for one more push with Bob Stoo- ...Wait, where did Bob go?

2017 X-factor: New head coach Lincoln Riley- It was a shock when Bob Stoops retired during the spring, but hey! Leave it to a Sooner fan to lend perspective:

You think it was the money that kept him at OU? God, your fucking dense. He was essentially made HCIW at that point. I think the big plan was for him to take the keys in 2018, but Bobby just ran out of gas and decided he was done. Get ready, cause I got a hunch Riley ain't gonna let up on you ingrates when he gets a lead like Bob did.

Well, that makes sense to me.

Good news: Lincoln doesn't just inherits Mayfield; he gets an O-line that'll be nearly impossible to stop (Orlando Brown has the chance to be REALLY good this season). And the linebacker spot looks as strong as ever.

Bad news: Problem for Lincoln is, he lost quite a few leaders on that defense (Jordan Evans and Ahmad Thomas are gone) so we'll have an adjustment period over there. And Mayfield can get the ball to his WR's and RB's, but none of them are Dede Westbrook or Samaje Perine.

Key games:
9/9 @ Ohio State (Just know that it got pretty ugly last year in Norman against the Buckeyes, and Oklahoma REALLY wants to repay the favor in Columbus.)
9/23 @ Baylor (By this time, Baylor will be 3-0 and not know any better, so this could be a tricky Big 12 opener for the Sooners.)
10/14 vs. Texas [in Dallas] (Do I really need to add anything else to this game?)
11/4 @ Oklahoma State (It could be quite awkward when these two hated rivals play each other twice in the same season. At least, that's what Oklahoma may be thinking.)
11/11 vs. TCU (But wait a moment! If TCU's offense is rolling at this point, the Horned Frogs could ruin everything.)

Bottom line: With key players from last year gone and a new coach, I am expecting Oklahoma to lose a game that they shouldn't lose in 2017. But will that prevent them from getting to the Big 12 title game? With Baker Mayfield still in Norman, probably not.

I'll say whatever I want to say bitch. No one crowned your dumb ass king of college football. If you want to make the argument that Air Raid coaches prioritize defense and use 5 examples over 4 years, you are the one who looks like a moron. And yes, you are cherry picking stats. Every defensive metric and even the most well known efficiency ratings agree with me. Not you. I originally used PPGA because it is actually kinder to Air Raid teams than YPGA, YPPA, and similar other stats. DFEI isn't kind either. Buy by god you found some random stat on the internet. You are so smart...

Your first paragraph is a reasonable take. You are trusting Stoops judgement, which is reasonable. Optimism is fine, lord knows I've lived off that shit for years now. But outright coach worship for a guy who hasn't ran a program before leaves you open to criticism. And I'm damn sure going to criticize my rival in that case.
