OT: Why did Seattle kick an XP

Down by ten with 20 minutes left in the game why would you choose to kick an XP and go down by 9?

There is no added benefit to being behind by 9 compared to 10. If you go for two, and convert it's a one possession ball game. If you kick you're two possessions behind, and if you go for two and don't make it it's a two possession ball game. So, why kick? Or at least what may have been the thought process behind kicking?

Because it was too early to chase points. What happens if they missed that 2 point conversion? Then they lose! Its simple logic.

Still too much time to start basing calls on probable situations I guess. Too much can possibly happen, and it did!

If they would have tried for two and missed it there then they would have lost, so it must have been the right call.

If it's 16-6, then a FG+TD doesn't give you the outright lead. I thought it was the wrong call (and said so at the time), but it's not like it is indefensible. 20 minutes is a long time.

Because you take the points when you can get them unless the clock tells you otherwise.
