Way to generalize. A few people hold up a sign that says $15/hour, and now we have to make it out that EVERYONE wants $15/hour, just to make an argument?

The real issue with minimum wage is it has barely moved, if at all, in the last 4 years even though inflation is a real thing. I can't really blame them for having a gripe with getting $7.85/hour.

And the rich don't just stay rich, they find a way to make themselves richer. We have to pay more for the lower people, raise prices to account for then, and eh, let's raise them a little more so we can stuff our pockets some more. That's where the real problem lies.

You'll get no arguments on that from me. The minimum wage should be adjusted annually to match inflation. At my job, the majority of my raises have come from our yearly cost of living increase. Every June we get a pay bump of between 3% and 7%. Of course, the downside of that is that since everyone gets a raise every year, it's a lot harder to get an actual merit based raise. So your hard working, reliable employees get the same raise as the lazy fucks who can barely be bothered to show up to work on a regular basis. Even if I do twice the work or more of some of these jagoffs, the only reason I make more than them is because I've been there longer.

So while adjusting for inflation is ideal, it also has the negative of almost punishing good workers to make up for the shitty ones so everyone can be happy and the bosses can stay rich.

These big corporate employers know that if they keep dragging their feet.... the gov't. will be forced to help out this working poor class and mcdonald's and others won't have to pay higher salaries (more money for CEOs and the stockholders).

Corporate welfare and crony capitalism.
