The problem is inflation. I'm not so sure one person working at McDonalds understands that, though.
I'm confused.
I thought we wanted all these lazy bastard, nanny-state people to get a fucking job and stop sucking on the government tit.
What kind of job do we want them to have again?
It's time people realize that jobs aren't there because of you. They are there because of the consumer. If the consumer goes away, then the jobs go away.
If you have minimum education, minimum skill, and a questionable work ethic...you aren't going to be able to afford three children. Realize this and stop breeding. Either that or get educated, get skilled, and work your ass off.

I'm pretty sure that part of that costs goes to the CEO's 27.2 million dollar salary.
A McDonalds franchise requires a huge investment in capital. The profit margin for the franchisee is slim. Labor costs must be controlled if the franchisee is to succeed. Yes the CEOs are in most cases way overpaid, but that doesn't help a guy who has 750k or more invested in the success of his store. As a guy who has worked for himself for the last 20 years, I tend to fall on the side of the business owner.
Cheap labor might be good for the business, but who do you suppose is paying for these folks to live? If it's not by the money they earn it has to come from somewhere. Who is paying their health care? The government is subsidizing these businesses by making up for everything the employer is NOT providing. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Where does it say it is the employer's responsibility to provide everything? Nobody makes anyone take these jobs. The jobs are offered at whatever rate they are offered, and the potential worker has to decide for himself if the pay/benefits are sufficient for the work required. I'll be damned if I would expect to support my family by working in a fast food restaurant. That's why many of the employees are either teenagers looking to make some spending cash, or retirees looking to supplement their social security/retirement.
doug might have a point with the franchise holders, those guys get screwed in the middle. They aren't quite as rich as the corporate fat cats.
