I like my Apple products, but I understand people hating on the fan boys and the obsessive element of it. At the same time, I think it's silly to hate on the products just BECAUSE of the fan boys. At the end of the day, they are an American company that makes good shit. We could use a few more of those about now.

Yup, I have an iphone but am no apple fanboy. What I find hilarious is that the only people that actually care about, and call people out for being a fanboy are the ones that are 100% haters. Everything Apple ever has made or will make is substandard and sucks. You can see one of them on this thread, talking about how the 4S is already outdated even though, in my mind at least, those things he claims are missing are all actually there just not shoved in your face. 4G? Tell me what phone or carrier has actual 4G in the US. The answer, none. No carrier has TRUE 4G, yet the slams Apple for not having it. I understand not wanting something, but to be opposed just to say that you are opposed is stupid. fuckin hipsters

I don't have anything against the iPhone, but Apple's rigid release schedule has put them behind, IMO.

A large part of what they did on the 4s is actually just to get them caught up with the competition, and in some cases they didn't even do that, like 4G, NFC, larger screen, expandable memory, etc.

I get my phone through work and can get a free T-Mobile Android device (always their high end devices) every 12 months. I'm golden with that.

But...the timing has worked out perfectly with the blackberry disaster of 2011. I bet Mr. Jobs was behind that as well.

I think it is absolute fraud that companies can claim they have 4G when 4G technically does not even exist among mobile phone carriers available to the public.

Apple is just not stooping that low. You can call a fast 3G for 4G, but in the end it is still 3G. Apple took the high road and will not wait to release their next big thing which I believe has already been making progress when true 4G is available.

I don't hate the products at all but still make fun of Apple fanboys because of people I know. I know 4 people who frequently buy Apple products and only one of them I would consider not a fanboy. The other three always go into demonstration and sales mode for weeks after they get something new. Its little kid stuff. My absolute favorite part is how something so wonderful (and not cheap) one day can be made completely obsolete in their minds whenever the new version comes out. If I like something enough to rave about it to all who will listen then I am probably not going to replace it in a year.

Really? NFC is included in your mind? Expandable memory is included in your mind? A larger screen is included in your mind? Saying that those things are missing are all true statements, regardless of what you believe in your mind.

And would it make you feel better if I called it "4G"? I could say that they didn't include LTE, WiMax, or HSPA+ (despite AT&T's claim that there's is HSPA+, which it is not). Also still a true statement.

Not totally true. Splitting hairs maybe, but ITU, the organization that develops the standards has said that current versions of LTE, WiMax, and HSPA+ can be classified as "4G". So they've essentially said it doesn't meet all requirements, but can be advertised as a 4G system.

I don't quite know how to interpret it, because I don't know if the standard making body caved under pressure from the carriers to acknowledge their standards as 4G.

Or if they maybe (correctly) realized that the gap between the standards for 3G and 4G was so wide that nobody would meet true 4G standards for years and accepted a sort of 4G-lite.

When they gave permission for the "4G" usage, they did acknowledge that it was acceptable because these new technologies do provide a significant improvement in speed vs. the 3G technologies.
