Did an afternoon at English Bay once shortly after moving here.

Really crowded even on a weekday, thick weed smell everywhere, junkie setting a fire in the bathroom while little kids washed their hands, assholes blaring their music as obnoxiously loud as they can and yet it seems like when sunset hits there’s suddenly enough cops to enforce every single bylaw and clear the beach.

One of those places that would be really nice if the people we pay to enforce stuff actually enforced stuff.

/always have a great time at CRAB Park though!

Last week there was a post on vancouver reddit group complaining that "aLl ouR oUTDoOr SpoTs R bUSy anD smELl oF w33d" which led to people responding with pictures of so many beautiful open spaces/parks where one could go to find some peace and solitude. Was cool that people would share their hidden gems.

/Sunday we went to Redwood Park in South Surrey to walk trails ... it has a section that is loaded with birdhouses that kids place there on fields trips ... cute but when youre all alone under the dense tree cover it can be a little freaky lol

I was camping during that ... Helicopters were coming in scooping water all night.. smoke was crazy and the campground was overfilled with tents side by side and the lights from the helicopters were so bright through the smoke ....

We drove through the fraser canyon last night and starting just past chilliwack got emergency alert after emergency alert on our phones about the imminent danger when the dam/landslide breaches.

Probably if no breach occurs by then. No clue what kind of flood situation will happen near Hope. The fraser looked very low even for August.

In 1968 or 69 there was a big fire on the highway to Long Beach by Sproat lake. And the water bombers were going up and down. Skimming up water on Taylor arm and Sterling arm of Sproat lake. My cousin and I went out in a 14 foot aluminum boat with a six Johnson, and tried to get across Taylor arm as a bomber was coming in. And this was a Martin Mars too. It had to abort its run and fly over us. I was ready to dive in and swim deep. I could clearly see blue flame in the exhaust Cowlings.

When we got back to my cousins place, the RCMP were waiting to have a chat with us. My uncle and my dad were not impressed.
