According to my wife, they had to pull the largest ferry they have out of service just prior to this long weekend.

So you're saying the $4400 I just paid in property taxes here on Vancouver Island is a bargain?

We paid about half of that this year. TBH, when we first moved into this place back in '96, we really were getting a bargain on taxes, especially being in CR. Not anymore.

yeah, GFL (I think) does the recycling now.
so you put your stuff out on a Friday (before 7am, they say!) and then maybe it will get picked up by Tuesday.
If not, then we get an email to bring it back in, and they'll try again next week.

I can't recall a time in the past 6 months or so where all three items were picked up on the day it was scheduled.

Don't get me started on that dolt outfit. I run the recycling center at the landfill in CR. It really wasn't too, too bad until GFL bought out Terrapure. GFL has turned my job into a living hell (well, mostly them). aaarghh.

We have grey bin (garbage) every other week.

Blue bin (recycle) every other week.

Green bin (compostable) every week. We don't bother with the green bin.

They seem to be on time every week, 8:30 AM on Thursdays.

And larger items can go either to the landfill or the city centre recycling depot.

I can speak the same.

Garbage and compost, we do both: 9ish on Thursday
Recycle: Sometime Thrusday Afternoon. Usually 1sh or 2

and ship the bigger stuff to hartland or Bottle Return it

I'm a bit surprised he seemed to do a thoughtful job with the storefront,
considering he will be arrested within about 15 minutes.
good for him for pushing that fight, though. It's time to have that conversation.

A Maple Ridge education assistant who says she was struggling to make ends meet has been fired over her second job: posting racy content online, including on OnlyFans.

Kristin MacDonald, 35, has posted titillating photos and videos for about a year under the name Ava James on the website known for custom pornography.

That drew the ire of School District 43, where MacDonald had been an education assistant since 2015 at Terry Fox Secondary in Port Coquitlam.
