I am actually ok with this . Should it be federal police?
Federal police but they’re focused on the ports, border crossings and native reserve smuggling.

If you tackle all three you actually stem the flow of drugs and weapons into the country. If you omit one we’re just flushing money down the toilet.

This is my late brothers old band being featured on Global TV. These guys all grew up in Campbell River, but are known in the Vancouver scene -- their drummer is the current drummer for Trooper.

I watch this yesterday BB. Beautiful segment on them and your brother. My condolences for his passing.

lucky they are not soup.

How fast do you think this hunk of shit was going when he rear ended an Accord and killed one of the occupants this morning?

I just saw on a CHEK news brief that there are two new fires in the Port Alberni area and they think both are human caused.

And suspicious to boot. Meaning intentional.

They opened the highway by the lake on Friday and had to shut it right away due to Highwinds. The silly netting they’ve put up is being held up by cranes and they were going to blow over. I’m not leaving until I can guarantee I’d make it back that day. Fuck it. My patio is sublime at this time of year. Why would I want to go anywhere anyway? With a bit of luck, I’ll get out of having to go to a wedding in Cowichan on a Friday in July.

City of Vancouver going to be voting on a property tax increase of 9% annually for the next 5 years ... I can't even math to how much that works out to for home owners .. Ken Sims is clearly over his head and has no idea to find other sources of income for the city so go for the low hanging fruit .. home ownership will be impossible in that city if it isn't already

just makes my blood boil.

property taxes are currently $14,000 per year.
in 5 years at 9% that will be over $21,500.

on top of interest rates on my mortgage cranking the fuck up well beyond where they need to go.
("but inflation is still strong" the government says - the biggest fucking part of that is housing expense increase... i.e. mortgage payments increasing due to the higher interest rates. Rent increasing on tenant turnover so landlords can afford their mortgages and taxes)

good thing i have a basement suite to help with my mortgage.
except the city has made a "commitment to affordable housing", so I am limited to increasing the rent by about 2%, after being flat for three years.
not that i would raise the rent by 9% anyway, as that would be a dick move.

option B: Vancouver - control your fucking spending, bitch
City Hall doesn't need new office furniture every two years.
you don't need to provide a police escort for the Critical Mass assholes who block traffic for 5 hours.
maybe have cops ticket the cyclists blocking the intersections - hey, that's revenue generation!

And
So you're saying the $4400 I just paid in property taxes here on Vancouver Island is a bargain?
And the $4100 in North Delta i paid is as well i think

For Vancouver, I would say they should increase the price of services however how do you do that when the services offered are already so shitty after cutbacks. All those CUPE wages are a killer. Did they already sub contract a portion of garbage/waste pickup?

I filed my parents home owner grant online for them and they are at $5800 this year for a close to 100 year old house that feels like its about to fall over when my kids go for a visit and are running around upstairs.

For me, $5455 property taxes last year and i think its $56xx something this year in Burnaby. Thank god they had that cheap son of a bitch NDP mayor for 20 years building up that war chest/surplus lol ... although with the new twin rinks in South Burnaby and other community projects on the go, Im sure they will be coming to homeownes for more in the near future.

/on that note ...preliminary stages of doing an addition to our home and just got my City of Burnaby permit fee invoice from my gc

sometimes I feel the municipal govts namely Burnaby give away too much stuff that they should be charging for heh

Burnaby has a shit tonne of virtually free stuff/activities for kids ... when my kids become adults IM GOING TO SCREAM BLOODY MURDER ABOUT THIS lol

for grade 5 and 6's they have free be-active passes ... for the rest of kids they have a $20 be active pass for the summer that gives kids free access to all drop in activities at rec centres ... that means free swimming, free drop in basketball, and the topper ... free buckets of balls at city owned golf course driving ranges plus free club rentals ... where was this shit when I was a kid!!!
