I was trying hard to keep from jumping to conclusions but even without researching him I knew that something like this had to be out there.

will wait for the facts but I think we know on this one
yah I have no clue if the speculation is true ... but facts about the parents exist ... like his criminal records and news stories

I swear less than two months ago they said gas was going to be somewhat lower for most of the summer lol

I just checked and they're paying 2.88 a litre (I think that's converted to Canadian dollars in the UK). Of course, they drive shorter distances and a lot of people take the train versus even owning a car.

They also have a commodity-rocking war happening on their continent. Average gas price in the US right now is $1.37 CAD/liter.

Just feels like one of those "let's take advantage" moments that really sucks for the average person.

I haven't calculated how much money I've saved by being able to work from home (my wife as well is able to work remote) versus driving plus parking or taking a bus, but it's not an insignificant amount.

Prior to Covid I was doing a 160 km round-trip every workday to Nanaimo and back. They were paying me the CRA mileage rate as a taxable benefit. So my gas was covered but it didn’t quite cover new tires, maintenance and things like that. Now things are simple.

labour shortage? for what businesses?

a golf course, marina, and one supermarket.
the gas stations and parcel pick-ups require one or two people each
but sure, if some tsawwassen kids need jobs, go for it.

Very close to home for me

hope this doesn't launch a spate of political reprisals.
this dude was wanted in India on terrorism charges (some murders in Punjab, and a bombing in India)
that could all be bullshit, though... who knows.
