Hope you aren’t planning any drives this week Hank.

Nope. I don't travel much. But I have a friend from Calgary who was coming to Sproat Lake on Thursday for a week. The last time he came Dog Mountain (right on Sproat Lake) was burning.

I'm going to tell him to stay in Texaberta from now on.

My daughter will be taking the logging road from Port Alberni to Lake Cowichan today - No services (gas/food/lodging) on that road. Good luck and may the force be with her :D

sporadic cell service as well from what I read ... saw on the news many successfully drove it yesterday after seeing on reddit many warning against driving it ... I think there is safety in numbers though as many are driving it so its basically a convoy

Yeah, it's a very winding narrow road with sharp turns - With so many vehicles on it, speed will be greatly reduced so everyone will have to exercise patience.

I cant find the reddit thread now but people were chiming in saying the road is in rough shape, have to have good tires, dry and super dusty with poor visibility.

people also saying you need a radio to warn logging trucks but I think (would hope) with all the traffic now the logging trucks are probably more aware and wont be bombing down that stretch like they would in normal times

I had heard that they were trying to water down the road to reduce the amount of dust that will be kicked up. Driving slowly should also aid in keeping the dust down as well.

I went to Save On today for some milk and TP. No milk at all on shelves. Lots of TP.

The lady by the milk section said they had a truck coming in via the back road today and not to worry about food, etc. It will even have a police escort.

I don't know if you know who I mean by Skye Ryan or not (the roaming reporter for CHEK news), but I saw her at Save On. Obviously trapped in Port Alberni. what a scary lady. Painted up like a peacock and skinny as a pool cue. Skinny little bow legs.... Put me off my lunch.
