There is a real and actual thing in physics called the Ultraviolet Catastrophe.
It's one of the reasons quantum mechanics was developed. The Rayleigh-Jeans classical picture of blackbody radiation predicted intensities approaching infinity for increasingly shorter wavelengths, but this is obviously nonsense. The catastrophe was the spiking of intensities around the UV region of the spectrum.
Enter Max Planck, and things got sorted out.
But that name is the best.
It's also the name of my fantasy hockey team.
