I'm sure you're all familiar with Rorschach, yes?

I just learned that each of the Watchmen were based on Charlton Comics characters, and Rorschach was based on my new favorite DC hero, The Question.

Now I want to read some comics...

The Question is basically Agent Mulder of the Justice League. Except for the part about hanging out with the likes of Superman and Batman.

If you think about it though, he's kind of a watered down version of Batman.

Unless you count Golden Age Batman, who carried a gun, the Question is actually a bit edgier. He doesn't necessarily kill anyone, but he leaves a lot of folks in situations where it's likely they will die. Even in the Justice League Unlimited iteration, in his first appearance, during a fight with some soldiers, he grabbed a guy from the top of a rock, knocked him out, dropped him, then dropped the guy's grenades, then the pins. (That was awesome.) Later, he tried to murder Lex Luthor by strangling him with his tie.

But I mostly just like him because he's off-his-rocker paranoid.
