Genie is into the doubles final at the same Auckland tourney so it's a pretty nice start to the 2019 tennis season for Canadian women tennis players.

Genie won the women's doubles title with partner Sofia Kenin - Bianca up next trying to take home the women's singles crown.

Bianca ran out of gas in the final (8 matches on 9 days), but what an incredible week - She raised her ranking from #152 to #107 with her play this past week.

Bianca Andreescu qualifies for the Aussie Open main draw - Keep an eye on this 18 year old, she's playing some fine tennis and I think she has a bright future ahead.

Good start for the Canadians at the Aussie Open as all four won their opening round matches - Tough match for Genie coming up in round 2 as she takes on Serena while Milos faces Stan the Man.

Milos takes down Stan the Man in four sets (all four went to tie-breakers, Stan won the first one, Milos won the last three).

Some pretty good tennis down under, Tsitsipas upsets Fed in four sets, Milos takes on Zverev tonight for a spot in the quarter-finals.

Milos into the quarter-finals with a straight sets win 6-1 6-1 7-6 over Sasha Zverev. Will face either Corna or Pouille in the quarters meaning a decent chance to make the semis.

Joker just destroyed Nadal in the Aussie Open final, it was a royal butt-kicking.

Also, we have a new #1 ranked female tennis player in Naomi Osaka and a new #1 ranked Canadian female tennis player...

Canada is going to the Davis Cup finals in Madrid in November as they dispatch Slovakia 3-2 with Felix clinching the final match. Shapo also played great this weekend winning both his singles matches.

Just a heads-up that 18 year old tennis phenom Felix Auger-Aliassime is in the Rio Open final (an ATP 500 event) and it will be shown on TSN2 at 3 pm Eastern time.
