Hadwin with a solid +2 over par today (was +4 on his round at one point) and sits at -2 after 36 holes. In good shape for the weekend.

Rory dropped two shots already. I’d like to see Sam Burns there at the end

US Open is actually run by the USGA, thus the PGA has no say on who can enter the tourney.
I may be mistaken but the majority of them are stinking the place up. Patrick Reed was the only one I noticed playing well.

To use golf terminology, the majority of the guys who have joined the LIV tour are definitely on the back nine of their careers. The disappointing thing to me are guys like Dustin and Bryson who still have plenty of good golf in them.

Hey Charles, that's turrible.

“I don’t judge other people. Listen, if somebody gave me $200 million I’d kill a relative,” Barkley joked before doubling down. “I’m serious. They’re saying Phil Mickelson got $200 million, Dustin Johnson got $150 million, for $150 million I’d kill a relative, even one I like.”

I detest Saudi Arabia as much as anybody but the hate these guys are getting for not thumbing their noses at huge paydays is ridiculous.

Messi, Neymar and Mbappe play for PSG who are owned by the ruling family of a slave state where the soccer world will be convening later this year to play the most-viewed sports tournament on earth. Abu Dhabi's ruling family owns the team that's won 4 of the last 6 Premier Leagues and is a perennial Champs League contender. The Saudis just bought Newcastle United. Gazprom sponsored a shit ton of teams and the Champions League until a few months ago despite Russia being a fucking pariah for a decade. Aramco is the largest sponsor of F1. How many guys who own oil & gas companies that do major business in the ME own US sports teams?

And this is all before we get into companies like Nike sponsoring half the fucking sports universe while having sweatshop labour produce most of their shit, or Chinese companies involved all over the place despite their strong links with their government that runs concentration camps for Muslims and kidnaps citizens of other countries when they don't get their way, not to mention that whole Covid thing.

I get it, Phil said some dumb ass shit that he definitely wasn't considering as the words came out of his mouth and things got lit up. It was stupid. Otherwise, these guys should all get fucking paid just like all the players for those teams I mentioned do and there's no real reason other than pearl-clutching to judge them for it.

One of the big differences with the guys who have joined the LIV tour though is that they made a conscious decision knowing the terrible track record of human rights that dog the Saudis. In my mind, that's quite a bit different from a guy who makes a Premier League team and then that team is subsequently sold to a Saudi backed consortium. A PGA golfer is basically an independent contractor and can essentially determine what tour he wants to join and what tournaments he wants to play. Again, quite a bit different from a team scenario.

Also, I don't know how much you guys have been following the Peng Shuai story in China (Where is Peng Shuai?), but the WTA took the bold step of suspending all tournaments in China until this situation is resolved (it still hasn't been resolved to anyone's real satisfaction). This is a big deal with the huge financial commitment China has made not only to the WTA tour, but also the ATP tour with new stadiums that have been built etc.

The UAE & Qatar have similar track records and those regimes have owned major soccer clubs for years and while there was some controversy when big stars started signing for those clubs you don't really hear a peep about it anymore.
