Working inside a windowless lab on a day when it is 72, sunny and without a cloud in the sky.

working in an office with floor to ceiling windows overlooking a park next to the river isnt the greatest thing either

I almost got hit biking home today. Again. A woman blew out of a parking lot and then through a yield sign without even looking and was just three feet from my front wheel, and the only reason she didn't hit me was because I was actually paying attention and threw on my brakes.

And this happens to me a lot. I just want to get home safely, you know?

It feels like it's gotten worse. Distracted driving and some people who are apparently just flat out pissed off bikes exist... It's nuts. I am so glad about the trail system here. All major road crossings have a bridge and I rarely have to ride on roads with cars.

Be careful out there, DS.

And elo. And Matty

And any other bikers/runners we have on board.

I look around constantly while I bike, even in a bike lane, because I know at any moment, I could be encroached upon or hit. Fortunately, my own awareness has saved me about six or seven times (once as a pedestrian, as a car blew through a light that had been red so long that I had already crossed five of the six lanes of traffic with the walk sign on before I was nearly hit). But it's so much less expensive to bike than to drive, and it's good exercise.

And I echo the sentiments about being safe out there, SportsHoopla bikers and runners.

That's a pretty cool system you have, though. Ours is good, but it doesn't takes us entirely away from cars.

With the drivers where I live, it seems bikers expect that and are thankful when I acknowledge and let them pass when I could actually turn.

I have to add I have had horns honked at me for this and almost been rear ended a few times.

Yeah, all we want is to be treated as vehicles. At least the good cyclists, since some do ignore traffic laws, and are probably the reason drivers hate all of us.

I actually get a little peeved when people stop and let me go when I have the stop sign. It's stupid. I've already stopped, just go through, you have the right of way, and it's ultimately faster.

When in Atlanta the bikers there must have the biggest set of :nutswing: ever.

I mean you have the worst drivers from all over the world that some how all come and live/drive in Atlanta. They don't care about anything on the road or near the road (ala mailboxes, curbs, parked cars, trees....). Also you have to watch since red lights and turn signals don't mean a thing in Atlanta.

Then EVERYWHERE it is very very bad that you see too many people constantly on their phones or texting.

I hate it when I have to share the road with a bicyclist. I'm scared to death that I may hit them.

And out in front of my house it is even worse. Lots of hills and very narrow roads - no bike lanes. All the bicyclists out here are idiots...they drive with the traffic instead of against it so they can't see a car coming. There are quite a few crosses by the side of the road out here.

Just the other night, I caught a bicyclist in my headlights. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked at me exactly like this:

You realize it's the law that they cycle with traffic, right? They're considered vehicles under the law.
