Drunk people on planes.

My goodness, did I ever have an experience.

She sat down next to me and got right up in my face right away to say hello. I mean, her face was right there when I turned around, and I could smell the alcohol on her breath.

And she didn't stop talking, except when she fell asleep, which she did on me, which made me uncomfortable, but I didn't wake her because I preferred the silence. When she ordered a wine, I tried to shake my head no to the attendant, but he paid me no mind.

And she kept touching me, which also made me uncomfortable, and I told her as much pretty directly.

I just wanted a quiet, peaceful flight. Ugh.

I go through that every year.

Running errands most of the afternoon, getting groceries to cook for dinner then sitting down to relax for a bit then BOOM power goes out. Out for 6 hours

The price of medical care in this country. Brother is between jobs, and I'm pretty certain he's in need of a CT scan...like soon. I'd try to see what this means in the realm of healthcare reform, but when no one actually knows what's involved in that...hard to get a real answer. All I know is the bill for a ER visit + CT scan of brain with contrast + possible drugs/treatment = $5k. Minimally.

I mean, I'm a member of the "medical field", so I reallllly don't understand how these things cost so much. $5k for a moment of a doctor's day and a scan? I give consolations free on a daily basis (I'm certainly no MD). Such a broken system...that they fixed by smearing legal jargon on.

I always thought of that, how it could be so expensive for just a checkup or a scan - I guess maybe they think that they want to be insured incase something bad happens, but still, $5k for all of that is ridiculous

The machines are crazy expensive...but I know how many of those scans they do a day, and it is by no means worth that price. Unfortunately it's not like people have a choice.
