EPA saying that VW could be on the hook for as much as $18B in penalties. That's just in the US, and just the penalties. Not even the costs associated with the recall, customer lawsuits, and overall damage to the brand.

I'm sure they'll settle for significantly less, but that $6.5M Euros doesn't look like it's going to be anywhere near enough right now.

I'm sure they'll settle for significantly less, but that $6.5M Euros doesn't look like it's going to be anywhere near enough right now.

Chevy paid 35m in penalties and they killed 300 people and injured 4000. I don't expect VW will pay what "experts" are saying.

The regulations are impossible, and VW decided that trying to cheat them is easier than trying to follow them. Nobody is right in this case.

I do wonder when we're going to get all those nasty diesel tractor trailers off the road, too.

The fact that everyone seems to be rallying around the idea that we shouldn't say the shooter assholes name and that will solve all the problems. The passion with which people are angry at the media for saying his name is twice what I would hope they would be at how easy it is for an unstable military failure with a history of anti-religion and white supremacy rants to buy 13 guns.

You don't have to stop guns. You just have to stop names.
