Okay...

Mike Tyson Flips Out On Canadian TV: "Fuck You, You're A Piece Of Shit"

So, Mike Tyson is in Canada to support Mayor Ford and he goes on live TV where he's asked if it's a good idea for a convicted rapist to support a crackhead (essentially) and he flips the fuck out.

How in the hell did this even get to happen in the first place? Any of it? Did no one see the impending train wreck?

I'm not sure exactly what's more disturbing: the act itself, or them pretending it wasn't related. "Oh, it's dye! Blood spatter? We would NEVER." Yeah, okay...then why is it on a Kent State *vintage* sweatshirt? Not like Kent State is some giantly popular university.

The actual website listing for the sweater says that their vintage lines are items "found all over the map just for you", meaning somebody from UO went out and found this item and put it for sale. There is so much to this that is unanswered (Who found it? Who posted it? How is somebody, anybody, this fucking stupid?).

People who bought them are reselling on EBay for crazy amounts too. I heard one was for sale for like $2,500

We had the pre-season coaches' meeting tonight to discuss the house and select season coming up.

When we got there, we found out that our association's travel program decided to split into A, AA and AAA from just our association instead of pairing with two other associations to field one team from the cream of the crop. So, since we have three travel teams in just our association, they are pulling from the pool of kids that would normally be playing house and the select teams.

So last year, we had 3 major and 3 minor house teams, and one each 01 and 02 birth year select teams. Last year we had 72 kids in just the 02 birth year. This year, we have 51 kids for 02 and 03 birth years combined. We'll be stretching to field 4 house teams. And since the travel teams took the best of the select kids, we have 14 kids trying out for select. We typically use 16 - 18 kids per select team and last year we had two. This year we will have a short bench with one team for both years. And that's taking every kid who shows up. One of the kids trying out tried to put his helmet on backwards a few times last year.

And since those travel teams need goalies, we are down to 5 for the four teams in house. And three of those want to skate as much as play goal.

I just have to keep telling myself "I like teaching the game, I like teaching the game"

I work for a Canadian gov't agency, and sometimes it drives me nuts. They just replaced our landlines with (cheap) smartphones, which is a step in the right direction. Just a few restrictions:

  • We can't access our network for security reasons, so no email or schedule.
  • Still need our PC for contact info, unless we manually enter it into our phones.
  • Not allowed to take our phone home unless teleworking. Which doesn't really help me since I only telework in case of unexpected emergency situations.
  • Not allowed to make calls outside of our cubicles or conference rooms.
  • Can't leave our phones unattended in our cubicle - need it be locked up.

So in other words, I basically have a portable landline that I'm not really allowed to use outside my office anyway, but which I now have to charge and lock up. The only thing I gain is texting, which I'll just continue to do on my own cell phone anyway.

Of course someone saw it coming. Why else would they bring in Mike Tyson to comment on Toronto politics? They wanted the train wreck and they delivered it. Stellar journalism of course.

Umm, he's got a PHD in political science and a minor in international relations.

They needed a story that people could really sink their teeth into, but they should have left it on the cutting room floor.
