On this day in 1993, the Smashing Pumpkins released their second album, Siamese Dreams.
it was, and remains absolutely excellent.

and because I enjoyed their first album (Gish), I caught them pretty early on this tour with about 100 other people in the bar.
Stood right upfront stage right, as D'arcy liked to wear a fishnet top with nothin' underneath.

also, I hope the girl I was dating at the time appreciated my musical taste, as I took her to see this show and the Screaming Trees (also with about 100 people int he bar) within the same week.

Imagine paying all that money to go to a concert when you could’ve stayed home and just listened to Spotify instead lol

missed this last week - July 26, 1973 ZZ Top released their third album - Tres Hombres
a bit of a deeper cut than the obvious (La Grange, Jesus Just Left Chicago, Waitin' for the Bus, Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers)

I have a pretty good recollection of music from that era since I grew up in the 70s, but if you held a gun to my head and asked me who the artist was that did this song I’d be a dead man

I knew he sang that only because of my vast knowledge of tv show the Golden Girls :noidea:

no idea about any of his other songs :noidea:

speaking of music knowledge a classic rock radio station here has a contest going where they play one second of a song only once and the caller has to guess in 5 seconds the name of the song. I think Ive been able to name 4 songs (as Ive played along while listening)

with every wrong guess, they add to the jackpot for the next time they play the game ... with a new song. I think only 2 people have ever won ...They USUALLY play the most obscure parts of songs... I heard one of the wins once though. I heard it in the car and the dj guy was like "are you ready ... here goes"

they then play "ROXXXXXXXXXXXXXANNE" :ohwell:
