On this day in 1983, Iron Maiden released Piece of Mind

they are alot of fun in concert. when I saw them last time they came I wondered if their age would show and the set opened to a basic stage and very slow movement from teh band members and I thought yeah they old.... and it all changed during the song. The transformed to aztec ruins and the band exploded. It was one of the best concerts I have been too. Was a great night

how long ago?

I saw them for the Somewhere on Tour concert (1987), when Waysted was supposed to open up, but got stuck at the border or something, so Bon Jovi stepped in as a last minute replacement.
They were in town recording Slippery When Wet, so it was fairly handy.

The crowd was as disinterested as I have ever seen for an opening act. Was a bit of an odd mix.

The Maiden set was fierce, though.
just terrific musically.
