not sure why my wife and I got talking about this song but we looked up its history and this blew us away

the song was written by Journey keyboard player Jonathan Cain. He began writing the song with only the lyrics "highway run into the midnight sun" on a paper napkin while on a tour bus headed to Saratoga Springs, New York. The next day, he completed the song in full in only a half-hour

30 minutes.. holy shit

Early Morning, April Four
Shots rang out... in the Memphis sky
FREE AT LAST, they took your life
But they could not take your pride

I was managing a record store in 1994 and heard the news when I woke up. I called my store and every other store in our district and said put everything that says "Nirvana" on it at the front of the store. Got a lot of push back "Fans already have this stuff". I said death is a career move. I got my re-up orders in by the time the store had opened. Every store had sold out of everything by noon. And we sold out of all of the re-up order the day it arrived.

And today on "Bands that should have been huge but had the misfortune of being around at the time of all the record labels and radio stations only wanting grungy mush mouth emo brats" - Urban Dance Squad

Always felt to me like Rage Against The Machine made a lot of money on UDS' sound.

Yeah, Jar of Flies is a great album. I wasn't a real big Nirvana fan either, but I always liked this tune.

to answer the question, "Would" first got my attention for Layne's vocals
but the entirety of the "Jar of Flies" EP knocked my socks off,
More for composition than vocals specifically, so give most of that credit to Jerry Cantrell.

(was never much of a Nirvana fan, tbh)

It’s tough to pick a favorite AIC song. But the unplugged Nutshell video is epic.

As for Nirvana I dug the lesser known (ie not on MTV 24/7) songs for example

Love Buzz
Aneurysm
Lounge Act is my favorite

A tremendous collection from start to finish. "No Excuses" may be my favorite Alice in Chains tune. Honorable mention for "Them Bones"

I was shocked at the MTV unplugged they did. It takes a lot for me to approve of a Bowie cover, but they pulled it off.

I'd be OK if the grunge music scene never happened because it took away from better music like:
If grunge never happened TMLD would have become bigger than the Beatles.

Born on this day in 1937...

I read a book by that title, I did not know the title was from a song. I learn something new everyday.
