According to him, the joke was on him by some very sick person. I don't think, if he did it, that it was as a joke...I think it was for publicity. Sincerely believe that if that story (both deaths w/i 2 days) didn't exist that he would've been a mere side story to NDs season. THAT brought him to the foreground.

I compare it to johnny football ... The media (more specifically Joe pa biographer/glorifier joe posnanski) has tried to make him into some sort of throwback football awe shucks jesus. Thankfully hes not trying to live up to this false image

I too find it hard to believe, but at the same time you have A TON of anti-Notre Dame resentment out there who are going to blow this out of the water and will refuse to believe anything coming from the mouth of Te'o or Notre Dame admin.

Still means he lied many times. It just seems weird that a guy would be in a "relationship" for years and never see her face. Skype? I dunno, the people that really get fooled with these things are completely delusional sad people. Ever watched Catfish the show? So many red flags. And the fact that his GF was deathly ill and he never, even outside of football season, thought to visit her?

Another theory is that he may be gay and used this to cover it up. But if that's the case it's sad and I still don't pity him at all. Cowardly if so.

It's kind of wierd, kind of stupid but I don't get why the media pumping this story so hard.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I understand that lying about cancer is a bad thing and it's emotional impact on people is very real. It should be reported but at the level that I have heard about it today I find myself wondering if I am that out of touch or if they just don't have shit for news stories?
