OT - London Olympics thread

Canada goalkeeper took a while to play the ball after getting possession, was called for a indirect kick. On the ensuing indirect, the ball deflected off two Canadian players' arms (which happened so fast it was almost impossible to avoid). Free kick awarded, which led to the US tying 3rd goal.

Hope Solo saying that stuff about Chastain ticked me off. Sorry chicka, women's soccer would still be hopelessly (heh heh heh) irrelevant without Brandy, Mia, and their crew. What they did for soccer and girls sports was amazing. Them winning the 98 (was it 99?) World Cup is one of my first sports memories. I loved them. Every young girl wanted to be Mia Hamm.

I didn't get to watch today's game, and man I'm ticked at myself for that. Incredible back and forth. What a performance by Sinclair. That said, she and her coach need to remove the tinfoil hats and accept defeat. I was amazed seeing that handball called, but geez. "Illegal tactics"? Refs in the pockets? You, along with the US mind you, need to get a defense before you complain about this stuff. That Rapinoe corner goal was terrible (and brilliant).

Finally got to see it - delay of game definitely seemed ridiculous and the handball was definitely a close call per the rule. Wouldn't have called it myself for a player who's head was turned and didn't have intentions aside from not taking a ball to the gut. I just think human error and poor judgment are more often the culprit than some kind of conspiracy.

Yeah, I know it's popular. But they are tiny, tiny nations and it's not like we don't have tons of track interest here. I just wonder if they are built in some way that is advantageous. Like the build of Kenyans/Eithiopians/etc who walk/run long distances over generations seems to favor them in long distance events.
