this is just fucking stupid. do you get a gold medal and a fluffy animal for a prize.

I don't understand any of the gun/shooting events. Not really a sport, just a hobby. Handball, judo, and some others are a little obscure, but they require athletic ability. Shooting a gun... not so much. I'm not saying it's easy, but it's not a sport.

There are 2 soccer matches, 2 tennis matches, and a basketball game on now. This afternoon you can watch about a dozen different events live. Very cool.

USA women's basketball team has it's hands full right now playing Croatia. Up only 5 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. They just recently beat Croatia by more than 50.

Unfortunately there's way too many commercials. Too many personal stories also. When I was growing up watching the Olympics, it was all about the sports. All of them. Personally I don't think they show enough variety these days.
