Hurricane Irene: Billions in Damage Expected Along East Coast - ABC News

Looks like this isn't going to be pretty. Has the potential to hit the whole east coast. Has the ability to be the biggest disaster caused by just one storm. The eye of the storm is supposed to land right on NYC and then move through the northeast. I'm not too worried, but losing power is going to piss me off.

It's a hearty region. Look how they survived the worst earthquake in history just a few days ago. And, since the media is mostly based in the east, the rest of the world will hear the whining about it for MONTHS.

Or until the next white girl goes missing in Aruba. Whichever comes first.

I wouldn't really call that an understatement. The whole world relies on stability in NYC. If a the storm truly rips through there, it can cause some serious problems. There are many major cities on the east coast. Not our fault we live on the best coast.

I dont think they are calling this the worst storm, or most severe, they are saying it can and very well may cover the most ground.

While I think it will be bad, I think the media is already blowing it way out of proportion. I'll retract that post if my house falls down in the next few days.

We overreacted to the heat all summer, snow all winter, we overreacted to a small earthquake...though it was kind of cool, and we will overreact for this storm.


And by "we" I mean Philly, New York, etc. Not the carolinas, delaware, maryland, etc who are already being evacuated.

Thank you sir. I went beer shopping yesterday and grabbed 4 assorted 6-packs and as I was checking I saw one case of a seasonal beer that I wanted too so I am stocked with beer right now. So beerwise I am good.

Now if I want a pizza after drinking some beer I may be in trouble. Its a hard life.

My parents have a beach house in Seaside Park, NJ, about an hour or so south of NYC. It sure we be awesome if it's still standing on Monday.

Not concerned. Anytime a hurrican is headed to Maryland or by Maryland it never does any real damage aside from a little flooding here and there.

What I am very concerned about is Irene's apparent "homosexual agenda" that she plans to inflict on the entire East Coast.

I grabbed myself the Sam Adams fall variety case and have plenty of liquor. I should be good for the weekend. Now I just have to plan out what food I want to buy.

I was in the Mayan Riviera in the spring of 2006 after Hurricane Wilma and the government/tourist officials actually told the locals to stop spray painting "Wilma es una puta" on all the damaged/boarded up buildings

Apparently SEPTA, our public transportation, already plans to shut down Saturday at Midnight. That shit doesnt even happen for most major snow storms that are inevitably hitting us.

Hey now, Natalie Holoway was from Alabama in the central time zone. I do agree though if you listen to these assholes on the radio it sounds like NASA is going to call in Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis to save us all. They can bring Liv Tyler withem though.

Really not worried. Hope work doesn't have power so I don't have to work on Sunday although they might have a generator, I really don't know.
