There's a mean virus that will take effect on Sunday. Basically, go to DCWG | DNS Changer Working Group to see if you are in trouble. YES THE LINK IS SAFE.

And to prove this is not spam: Fuck Dallas!

Also fuck Dallas again, but not for proving it's not spam. Just fuck 'em.

Internet scams piss me right the hell off. If any of you have ever been swindled, I have a friend who may be able to help you get that money back. He sent me this letter just a few days ago and I'd be happy to have one of you help him out since I'm just too busy right now.

Dear Friend,

Having recently completed a profitable business transaction, I have recently come into a sum of money exceeding $95,000,000.00 (ninety-five million United States dollars, sorry, not Canadian dollars). The above sum resulted from an over-invoiced contract, executed, commissioned and paid for recently ago by a professional sports team. Unfortunately, access to the money has been spread out over 12 years and I cannot access it all at current.

I am ready to transfer the funds across state lines and that is where you come in. The total sum will be shared as follows: 70% for us, 25% for you and 5% for local and international expenses incidental to the transfer.

The transfer is risk free on both sides, well except in the case of injuries, but that's even covered by a labor agreement. Anyway, I'm giving too much detail. I would be happy to share the money with you provided you do the following. If you find this proposal acceptable, we shall require the following documents:

(a) your banker's name, telephone, account and fax numbers.

(b) your private telephone and fax numbers —for confidentiality and easy communication.

Alternatively, I will furnish you with the text of what to type into your letter-headed paper, along with a breakdown explaining, comprehensively what we require of you. The business will take us thirty (30) working days to accomplish.

Please reply urgently. I have a friend named Ryan in an almost identical jam if you'd be willing to help him out, too.

Best regards

Zach Parise

It's unfortunate that there's almost an entire year until the next Hookies and I already know what will win PotY.

Didn't this same virus hit a while ago? I distinctly remember doing this. Regardless, I be safe!

The FBI's running some servers that temporarily fix the problem. They were originally scheduled to go down earlier this year, but they extended it until this Sunday, so it's important that folks make sure they aren't infected by that time.

There was a botnet of infected computers that the Feebs found and realized that if they shut the servers down, then all of the people who were infected would lose Internet access until their systems were cleaned up. So in true fed fashion, they decided to put their own servers up in place and "communicate" that people should fix their systems.

They had articles written in these things called "newspapers", and had Good Morning America and 60 Minutes talk about it. They even sent some messages that got blocked as spam. They had 600,000 computers in the US affected and probably reached maybe 27 people.

So, they are going to turn their servers off and hence a lot of people who were otherwise unaware are going to lose Internet access.

It should be a fun moment of realization on Monday when people who are affected realize that all of their Internet traffic has been routing through the FBI for the last 9 months.
